I hope to soon have a cheaked-plate dash! god I love them!

so will you be using the shift lever or do you have a floor shift? i have a Muncie 4psd so do not need the column shift. I like the looks and could see myself going that direction too..thanks for adding the link, was helpful. what else do i need to complete this swap if i were to order this??

Im going with the column shift, just my style, besides i've used the floor shifter in the past and always wished i'd gone on the column.

you can order a column without any electronics and no shifter, will be substancially cheaper, but you will need the mounts or something similar as listed below

So are autometer gauges all electric, so you can use the existing wiring from the sending units to power them?

How does the speedo hook up? Isn't made for a domestic vehicle?

This is my favorite setup that I have seen here on MUD. It's not mine, but I would love to see a write up on it..

No, they have mechanical gauges as well. I'm not sure if all the factory electric sending units are the same, but most of the AutoMeter gauges that I got came with new senders and adapters to fit most NPT holes. I'm running a Chevy drive train so I went with one of there electric, programmable, speedometers, and got one of there mechanical to electric speed senders. It takes the mechanical output from the t-case and generates pulses depending on how fast it's spinning. With the programmable speedo, you just hit the program button, drive 2 miles, and press the button again. It takes the number of pulses compared to the 2 mile distance and calibrates the speedo to that. So, new gears or bigger tires, all you have to do is re-program it and your speedo is always correct.

OK, this is my dash I made out of .25" aluminum. I used hole saws and a drill press to cut all the holes. The panel has green leds for the turn signals and a blue for the high beams. It is painted with high metallic silver base coat and then cleared to match all my other silver pieces in the 40. It is populated with VDO gauges.

I just found this thread.
Those are nice "retro" style gauges. I like the outcome.

I am installing autometer antique gauges on a trail candy panel here in the next few weeks(hopefully)

I'll try to upload a pic later

I remember reading about this one - from memory it's just a sheet of ply or steel (i can't remeber:bang:) with a bead of sealer around the edges.
