Those are some serious cup holders in the first picture.

You got to keep the cup holders ;) I'm assuming they are welded in?

Wipers are stock. I've probably got about 3-4 wiper motors in the shop if you need one later. after i'm done :)
Heater? not sure we'd have to see they were normally a port add on thing. Mine didn't have any heater.
Sway bar is stock, bushings are avail thru shops here on mud.
Tranny and tcase are not stock that I can tell.

yes the cup holders are welded in....i am not sure i will be keeping them...but i will gladly send them your way!...eric....tranny was a 3 on the tree originally?...what is the clue on the tcase?...thanks

the heaters were a dealer installed thing.

So, are there mount holes on the SWB fixed top firewall for the OEM heaters? I see the defrost ducts are the same.

There were mounting holes I think. The biggest difference I've seen in the 45's with and without heaters is the cutout for the fan and the location of the vacuum stuff to engage 4wd is moved if you had a heater.

Mark.. The lever on the floor.. 4wd high low was the dash lever and 4wd 2wd was the knob to the left of the lever. If you originally engaged the lever to got to low it automatically engaged 4wd with a little shaft on the left side of the big lever that pushed on a big nut on the 4wd knob.
Somewhere it was converted to manual and they cut a hole in the floor. Makes me think it was converted to a later 3spd? or 4spd? Mine will probably get a 4spd vacuum engaged tcase soon. As much as I don't want to lose the 3 on the tree we'll see how long I can stand it.

if the fuse box is mounted in the center of the firewall(not offset to drivers side) then there are no the captive nuts in the firewall for the heater. no biggy though. also will have to cut the firewall for the blower motor, add a outside vent on PS front fender and other bits......

So, are there mount holes on the SWB fixed top firewall for the OEM heaters? I see the defrost ducts are the same.

the fuse block is mounted dead center....or whats left of the fuse block...another question i have since eric brought up 4 wheel drive...did all these units come with some type of lock out hubs?....cause mine appears to have full time 4 wheel drive...the hubs look similar to those on an 80....with a grease zerk drilled into the center of them for good measure!....thanks

marc

Pretty much all early cruisers came with full time locked hubs (number 6 in the figure). It wasn't until later in the 70s that OEM lock/unlock hubs showed up. Thus, most of us have aftermarket Warn or other lockouts.

CDAN???? SOR????

Ahem.

Mark, before you go too far down the road with ideas about moving the fuse block and installing a stock heater, take another look under the hood. The FWD control box on the non-heater models sits outboard of the passenger side firewall brace, smack dab where the blower fan for the stock heater would be!

My lwb has the same original interior color as yours and IDAVE's. I dunno what that color is called tho.:frown: I just call it aqua.

Best

i think since the 4 wheel drive on this truck has been modified this may or may not be a problem....i will be checking the items you mentioned...and yes i know you sell parts....i tend to spend more money with the small businesses and individuals than i do the big boys....when i get ready for parts you will be at the top of the list....especially considering you knowledge of this vehicle!

Osage.. If you wanna go real retro OEM fine spline driveplates are avail so you can have enclosed hubcaps on the front. Just another option.. You'll need newer disk brake hubcap wheels at that time tho. And note the retro stuff was a different color wheel than the new stuff.

My only advice, take your time as the parts acquisition can take quite a long time. I'm going on 3+ years of parts acquisition and I could start at any time now. It's safer to listen and learn, go look at tons of trucks, take pictures get a game plan in place before cutting and modifying. If ya get a chance go to the 45 run .. Well worth the education!
Don't be in a hurry.. Do it once.

And Listen to mr Algazy.. He's retro cool ..

thanks erik...i am learning everyday and definetly putting together a plan...all of the comment and information i have received so far has been fantastic...it is nice to have this great group of advisors available!....the project will start soon with the disassembly of the truck...cleaning parts, straightening frame...sandblasting....while all this is progressing i will continue to research and plan for the rebuild...i am having a blast already!...thanks
