Got this a few months ago and have been working on and having a buddy work on it to get it up to par. Only have a few more minor things to add, but happy with how it turned out...
Pics turned out great and had to share... Still has the original plates from 1969, so I had them restored. The restoration on the rig is not high end, but it looks great.

Looks great. Wish my 69 was that nice. Welcome and:flipoff2:

What are your plans for it?

Whats holding the jerry cans onto the body can't see any holder and does the postion of them interfere with your mirrors view.

I can only imagine that once upon a time my '69 looked so nice. :p
Original power?

Thanks guys. Yeah still original power. Pretty much all original except one paint job, but matching the original color.
Yes the Jerry cans do block the view of the side view mirrors. You can still see, but they do block much of the view. There were Jerry cans on it when I bought it and I replaced them with new ones just to look nice. The brackets are drilled into the side of the top and the body, so I did not want to take them off and worry about patching them. I think it adds a nice look as well. Not sure who makes the bracket. It just has a little lip on the bottom to hold it and then a latch on the top. It is pretty old school I think. They have been on there for a long time. I did a quick search and they are something like this.....

Love it, but I think the Gerry cans look really awful, sorry. All I can see is cracked sheet metal after a number of miles as they vibrate and fatigue the surrounding metal. This will be a shame on such a beautiful, black plate Cruiser. They are 5 gallon cans: filled with petrol at 7 lbs/gal, you'll have 35 lbs of petrol plus another 10 lbs or so in cans, all hanging on sheet metal with fender washers.... Oh man.

Otherwise it's gorgeous....but those cans.

Very Purdy cruiser. I'm not a fan of the cans either, but man that cruiser is soooo nice! Mine is a 69 too and I don't think it's looked like that for about 40 years. ha ha. I wish I had the black plates. Really adds to it. I do think I know what the holes on both sides of my hardtop are from now... they are the exact same place as your cans... I wonder if someone had cans on mine there at one point.

Thanks guys and yeah the jerry cans are not for everyone... They were on there when I got it and I liked the look and gives it a different look, so they are staying.

Chamba... They are all looks. I am not actually filling them with gas. I would if we needed them for a trip or something, but I have no vision of rolling them around loaded. They are extremely light. I would be totally amazed if it could cause any cracking at all. I would be surprised if they were more than a few pounds.
