i love comparisions, so lets discuss this statement:
HZJ77 - 2130 kg (4686 lbs)('all bells and whistles' full size HD weight)
PZJ77 - 1920 kg (4224 lbs)(just for full size HD bare bones weight)
KZJ78 - 1930 kg (4246 lbs)(full mean deal weight)
LJ78 - 1920 kg (4224 lbs)(just for comparison sake)
HZJ81 - 2100 kg (4620 lbs)(just for comparison sake)
difference between the HZJ and the KZJ is 440 lbs or the weight of 2 adults or the weight of a bull bar and winch. you REALLY think that weight reduction makes the KZ that much more comfortable for city driving or general 4X4 use?
over all length including bumpers:
HZJ77 - 4685 mm (15.61 ft)
KZJ78 - 4615 mm (15.38 ft)
LJ78 - 4585 mm (15.28 ft)
HDJ81 - 4820 mm (16.06 ft)
so here we have a difference of .23 ft or 7 cm. THAT is going to make the truck different in driving in the city.
but wheel base might be the issue, best check that:
HZJ77 - 2730 mm (9.1 ft)
KZJ78 - 2730 mm (9.1 ft)
LJ78 - 2730 mm (9.1 ft)
HDJ81 - 2850 mm (9.5 ft)
they are exactly the same, even the full sized boat HZJ81 is only .4 ft longer.
finally, for discussion sake, lets look at actual frame length:
from experience since i can't find the dimensions right now. the LD frames are exactly 25mm shorter than the HD frames or 1" difference.
but then gearing and engine size will make a difference when it comes to city driving or general 4X4 use, quicker acceleration, auto vs manual, tire size, dry weight vs wet weight...
you tell me, looking at the specification comparisons, does the KZJ have anything over the HZJ, or the PZJ for that matter, for city driving or general 4X4 use?
