Hello

Do any of you have any photos of early 1960's fj40s or 25's restored ( repainted ) red?
Want to get an idea of what some of the original toyota reds look like on an earlier rig.

Thanks :)

Destin

Ground Up did a beautiful restoration of a red 73 soft top but unfortunately, for some un explained reason, he chose to delete every single photo from his very detailed thread.....:frown:

That is the 64,000 dollar question. Perhaps he decided it was too public?

yeah maybe ;)

here are a few photos I found searching mud

do you happen to know what color red that might be?

edit // I just pm'd FJnotCJ, seems it was or is his truck :)

Sure wish I could scan my photo albums, lots of stuff, have some footage from 1975 of the Land Cruiser Jamboree on the Rubicon Trail, a 16mm film from 1971 on the Rubicon Trail that I have never seen because I can't find a projector. I won't talk about the box full of 1960's Four Wheeler magazines. John P#3

Sounds like you need to get a scanner for your birthday :D
Be sweet to convert all those projector reels to digital formats too :)

Thanks I will hit up deKuiper and ask, but i remember him saying somewhere it was not the original paint... ( been diggin through alot of threads :) )

Thanks guys, keep em coming :)

No, it's an original steel tub.

this was a great restoration...too bad about the pics x2...it was sold...who has it now?

Not sure who has it now. Sold the second time it was on Ebay for around 22K-23K if I remeber correctly. Should sold for at least double that. If it was sold by TLC it probably would have.

Mine is red but I doubt it is original. From what I could make out from the PO, it was restored in 1997 while still in Hawaii - it's original sales state. FWIW, I think that makes it one of 2 sold there in 1962.

Pictures are in the link in my signature line.

I believe that they were hosted.......But he is restoring something very cool I hear. Rumor that is.;)

They were not hosted, they were "normal" attachments. They were deliberately removed from his thread, by him. No reason ever offered up. If you go to the original thread you will see edit notes, all very post-dated (editing note added to the bottom of this very post, in order to illustrate), on all of his posts that originally had photos attached. He struck all the photos himself.

Perhaps he did so because he no longer posessed the vehicle or he decided he should not have posted them in the first place for any number of reasons. Only he could answer that and that is not likely to happen.
