EDIT: Tire mounted pic added end of thread!

Got the new Perkins Performance rear FJ40 bumper in for our BJ42 LX. LOVE this unit! Beautifully shaped, 3/16" steel main body, the spare tire holder tube is 1-3/4" diameter, .134 wall DOM, greasable spindle, 1" recovery points welded front and rear, fully gusseted, killer powdercoating. Love it! Perkins Performance - Puyallup, WA Price was $695 as shown and equipped.

Some other pcis

Spare tire holder will have a 33" shortly, Jason Perkins says it will handle a 39" in terms of weight. Also has a nice design feature where you can slide the mount up or down for more vision out the back window.

That looks super clean. Good call on it. Its nice that is uses the factory lights.

Excellent welds!
Will it handle a 39 without covering the brake light?

39"

Good question, not sure if it will cover it or not. One more cool thing about the lights, in the back of the bumper where the rectangular lights go in, the Perkins bumper has a hole that accommodate a waterproof bushing that lets the wires pass through but keeps water and dirt out. Very cool.

How much that go for?

That is one of the nicest and cleanest bumpers I've seen. I'm also interested in how it mounts to the frame. I've been looking for something like this and it's great they're located so close to home!

Wow, that is slick. I agree it's great that you can use the stock lights. :)

x2 Pretty similar to what I've been planning.

No way. It's mounted in a similar location to the stock tube mount and with a 33" you can just see the lights.

I'm interested in how it mounts to the frame, any details?

 I was planning to use the bumperette holes and the hitch mounting holes. I'm guessing they did the same with the bolts coming from the inside into captive nuts inside the bumper and welded-on spacers.

How much that go for?

No price on their site either.

some more pics and info

Here are some more pics showing the light box areas, wiring grommets, and mounting setup. It mounts by drilling holes to accommodate larger diameter bolts--see pics. You can see the inside captive nuts, and also the welded square that mates up against the rear crossmember, they are used to "clear" those raised dimples.

Sweet! How much?

Price

Sorry, been on a photo shoot. Price was $695 as shown and equipped. Their web site is www.perkinsperformance.com. Jason is a heckuva nice guy, Iraq war veteran, new dad, and can do all kinds of custom stuff. I know, cos I ordered up a 4Runner bumper as well. Cheers!

tire pics

Finally got the tire mounted, it's a 33" and doesn't cover the tail light.
