I voted no because what ever trail you are on when you are on it is the perfect trail. Wheeling to me is like the teaching of Zen philosophy, i.e. be in the moment.

I vote yes, because this is a public forum. People researching for fun stuff will be able to use it. Additionally, it could possibly be used in the future for proof of a trail's popularity in the context of land use.

cheers.

Well, we could keep it and instead of calling it "perfect trail xxxx" just change the thread title to "SoCal80's trail list" or something. That way people that are looking for places to go can use it as a small resource...?

This is a great idea, we could even include maps, trail reports and GPS coordinates.

I like the "SoCal 80's trail list" idea. We should have a rating system to go along with it.

OK, here I am to throw my wrench in the gears:D. How about if everone lists their 3 favorite trails in no particular order? Then we assign a cutoff date. When the date comes we tally the votes and make a new sticky "Favorite SoCal trails" or something like that (listed in order based on the number of votes received). We include a little blurb on each one including difficulty level and what it's positive attributes are.

Then Dave keeps it up to date and organized as his reward for being a "mod".

Since I haven't ventured any further than the northern end of Anza Borrego, I would be curious how some of the many trails I have yet to run stack up.

Am I on to something or off my rocker???

Edit: I just voted after posting: tied up 50/50. Thought that was pretty funny.

I mentioned this exact same thing last year to 'complement' the P.T.T.
I got no response! :meh:

I STILL think it's a great idea.

Have a single (combined) post for each trail with info; i.e.: maps/directions, mileage, camping, condition, etc. Make each trail post a "living" post if you will. Updated as needed.

I have to agree that having a "master list" so to speak with all of the information one would need to go run a certain trail. Excellent idea. Pooling all the knowledge of our group would be a great help to many.

I'll leave the thread open for suggestions for the rest of the week. Then at the end we'll probably just turn it into a trail list directory for people heading out and want a resource to find trails/camping destinations. We all seem to be on the same page.

You obviously don't have the pull that Dave does. :flipoff2:

Well at least you didn't create this thread that totally BOMBED but has a chance to be reincarnated. (SP?)

Dave, you or I need to go in there and delete all chit chat posts. We need to keep this thread very clean with only trail information posts. If not this will be and exercise in waste, no one will want to read a bunch of chit chat remarks to find a trail to run. This is the same thing I have no with the official check in post of SoCal 80s. If you look at it, it’s very clean. We have over 50 posts with nothing but people’s rigs and pictures, makes for an easy read.

I suggest making the 1st post a list of all trails (in alphabetical order) contained within the thread, and link to the trail post. Similar to how the FAQ's are setup.
