About 4 years ago I bought a 1982 Fj60 from a forum member in Austin. It looked rough and used up and... beautiful. It had a wonderfully decentegrating factory stripe, flash rusting slats on the roof, and a bleached driftwood color to the hood. The truck did not have a straight panel or a spot bigger than a piece of notebook paper without a dent in it. Never even considered paint.

So I sell it, (DUMB), and the guy who buys it goes out and paints it "hearing aide beige". It is like he painted over a masterpiece for the sake of uniformity. I know this is the Paint and Body section but sometimes it is best to just step away and spend the precious $$$$ elsewhere.

My .02

How I sold it.

Man the patina on that thing was perfect. I to am a fan of the aged look, it doesn't work all the time but in that case it did.

Sorry, I'm not getting it. The guy just wants a nice ride, not your old rusted dents. Maybe on an old rat rod, but not his new 60. :meh:

Believe me, I get it. I sold it to him, it is his to paint or chop anyway he sees fit. It truly fascinates me the width and breadth of people's tastes as far as aesthetics are concerned. And every one has a right to theirs. I get it. But I disagree with them here and often. Just making my point that IMHO, this was a step backward.

As a postscript, I can not wait to see your piggy done! Been watching it for awhile and it looks AMAZING!

On the other hand... The interior is in a class of 1. He took the seats and consoles out of a 2005 LR3. Fawking SWEET!!!

What would have been really COOL (IMO) is to leave the outsid alone and open the door to this palace!

WOW! that is one heck of an interior. I'd mess that up quick, never could keep anything that clean.

That's the nice thing, about this hobby, you can build it the way you want, so many different avenues to take.

Thanks for the compliment on the 55. Long way to go, but making some head way.

anyone know how difficult to install the seats from a LR3 like that...looks great.

I love the patina look as well. Especially from dry states with no rust. The interior on the other hand looks great.
