will later model 80s transfer cases work? so im not just limited to finding one out of a 93?
You can learn quite a bit by reading the Newbie Guide on Slee off-roads website.

So I got a transfer case and it must be v or later model. Is there any way to use it in place of the one in the 92 year model

Hello all!
Let me see if I can shine some light...maybe NOT for you guys, but it will make you all think...
So...first LC80 auto trans is A440F...second A442F...then it moves to A343F on gasoline engines, diesels got an A442F slightly different from the previous...differences being in 2nd start mostly and internals deletion of components (you can know earlier A442F from newer A442 by dash board, besides year)...now...manuals...you are right up to a point...H151F are good for all 80s, but consider R151F...when that all goes in...then do a bit of work...AW450-43LE goes into 100 series diesel, (AW=Aisin-Warner)...now going back to them 5 speeds...100 series went from A343F to A750F same engine, therefore, same bolt pattern...there you have it, a 5 speed auto trans for an 80 series...what do you need? 2 things, keep your bellhousing to replace it from the A750F that you got from (Sequoia, LC100 series, LX470, GX470) and you will need a computer and cabling...if you have the donor, should be no problem, otherwise go to www.hgmelectronics.com and get your stuff there...if you want a 6 speed manual, then let me know, you have them there, but you need to know what to look for

oh wow. thanks so much for that info. I had redone the exterior of the vehicle a few years ago and then gave it to my nephew to drive for his first car. it has about 220k miles and I for sure want to get it back running good. they have done great changing oil and servicing it but we didn't know to check fluid in transfer case. thanks again!
Wow, lucky nephew!
