I wouldn't worry about the rain/water too much. My daily driver (Mitsubishi Evo) has a massive hood vent from the factory. It has a louvered "diverter" underneath but it doesn't do a whole lot to stop water intrusion. There are plenty of Evo guys that remove the diverter for more free flowing vent. So its seriously just a massive hole in the hood at that point with a minimal grill to stop small children from falling inside. But they still drive in pouring rain that way without problems. So you'll be fine.
I didn't have a good picture of the vent of my Evo so this is a friends. You can see that he's removed the diverter and you can clearly see the valve cover through the vent. So those small vents you've added will be far less to worry about as far as water is concerned.

As for the water issue X2 on what the others said I wouldn't worry. I also drove an Evo with removed hood louver and never had any issues even with all the rain we have here in the South. I was looking at finding some fender vents from maybe an escalade or land rover like below for the same purpose.
