Thought y'all would enjoy a few pics from this past weekend. I decided to drive Pappy to Virginia for our little trip. We drove about 350 miles and he made it considerably well-probably better than my friend Natalee and I did riding in him. It's a workout driving a manual steering 40 with no AC that far. Haha. We went to VIR Friday to see my uncle drive his TR3 in a vintage car race then headed to Richmond to see my family and go to a wine festival. What made my weekend though was my 3 yo nephew's reaction to Pappy. I think we may have another future cruiser owner in the family now. His first reaction was-'wow! The tires are bigger than me.' I then let him 'drive' around the neighborhood, which we had to do three separate times and we 'wheeled' through the empty lot down the street. I've never seen a bigger fan of the truck. The kid has good taste! :) And my main reason for driving it up...bringing back my newest project. My soon to be bourbon barrel liquor cabinet. :)

Unreal. Looks like it was a blast :D

Yeah it was pretty cool. There was the vintage car race going on that my uncle was in and there was also a big group of BMWs there (with some Porsches thrown in) doing a driving school/race of some sort. The rigs these people had were so nice....probably millions in trailers, RVs, tools, cars, etc. A lot of them are retired and do this for "fun". Ahhhh....some day. I saw the ariel atoms too and am saving up for it in the fall. Really nice track setup in a pretty area.

Beautiful TR3. Your uncle is very fortunate to be out there mixing it up with that crowd. It's the stuff dreams are made of. I used to have a TR3 but it was more of a yard car than a race car. I also owned a TR6..hence the reason for my screen name...roadstr6. Had a couple of MGB's too. I love me some little British cars and Land Cruisers!

Yeah, he loves it....second year racing. He retired and does it for fun but at a very small level compared to most of those guys due to the cost. He is really upset b/c some hotshot hit his front fender in the race Sunday and when they tried to get the guy's gopro footage, it had magically run out of battery right before he hit my uncle. $800 in damage....yuck. I love the little British sports cars as well! My Miata was as close as I could get to the look of one in a modern day car. :)

Yup, Mazda did a super job of capturing the look and feel of the 70's LBC's (little British cars). Sadly, certain LBC specific features like oil leaks (self rustproofing), leaky tops, twin carbs and faulty electrical systems were not engineered into the Miata. Where's the fun in that? Pics of a couple of my old flames:
