Two feet @9500 ft elev with another storm rolling in. This is going to be fun.

And 12" is new snow since last Saturday. You boys better wear gaitors. :D

I think my truck has a leak. I've been driving it all week and it has been sitting outside instead of in the garage. It smells like a$$ with a bit of wet dog mixed in. I have to hold my breath all the way from home to work. Since the weather turned cold the DS window is flaky so I can't roll down the window for fear that it won't go back up. :frown:

Anyone want to buy a nice '97 LC for cheap? Never off road per Stevie's definitions.

yep. :bounce:
so, as discussed (and discussed a little behind the scenes), this is going to be considered a "hardcore" run. 1 locker WITH chains, or 2 lockers are minimum. expect very tough conditions and hip deep or more snow. Jon put up some good guidelines, and the "what to carry" list he quoted from me from the tree run thread.

Rudy, you are good to go. especially if Ali's lending you chains. saddle up!:steer:

Don't tease like that, I was just drooling over your Cruiser last weekend.

I am a maybe, I'd like to come but I have another obligation on Saturday (unless the weather is bad). I don't have chains though. :flipoff2:

All we need is a phone patch code and we're all set to call regular telephones using HAM.

Ali sent out an email to the hams in the group, along with some club leadership, suggesting somebody get a membership. I think Ali has a good point. Membership in the local ham club gives members an access code for using the autopatch phone system. For those outside the ham world, the autopatch will allow a ham equipt individual to make a telephone call using a ham repeater.

I'm sending in my $35. For the Paliza run this weekend I've asked Mike to listen into the Mega-Link just in case we have trouble. The autopatch takes communication a step further. Those of us with hams can discuss this privately since there are some issues.

http://www.urfmsi.org/repeaters.html

It says:

"DTMF codes are confidential and for Full/Family members only"

so I don't think the club should be involved in heisting the code for widespread use. I encourage anyone interested to send in their $35 and get their personal code.

I went to the website and I'm a little confused since it sounded like only some of the repeaters have the capability. It might be available Mega-Link wide, but I'm not sure.

It is available Mega-Link wide, plus a few others.

 Sound like fun!

My dos centavos:

One locker ok
Chains if only one locker, though I think they should probably be required
Good tires (AT or MT), 31" or larger (33"?)
Winch desirable on every truck
Recovery gear, though we share
Sliders for the tank traps
Vehicle properly fitted for recovery
CB required, Ash and I will have 2m

Check on everything except for winch, recovery gear and two bolts for rear recovery (Rory was at the back of my truck in Moab and said they were missing :hhmm: :flipoff2: If I pick up an antanna that won't fall off tommorow (maybe firestick or something) does someone know how to tune them easily?

I'll bring a mag mount for you Rudy. Yes, I can tune, but it's easier in the driveway. I would get a Wilson instead of a Firestik.

I have a mag mount already, but it fell off quite a bit the last time I went on the run in that area. If your mag works better fine, but I will have to upgrade at some point. If time permits I will run by one of the truck stops (or is there anywhere else in town?) and see what they have. I should have some time to figure things out and run around tommorow (fingers crossed) if you are free.

Thanks,

Did you have a dinner of refried beans shortly before that?

Yup, I'm in. Please put up your tray tables, seats in the upright position, and bring your tire chains cause this is gonna be a rough ride :bounce:

Oh yeah, bring the chain saws too for downed trees.

Why the F didn't my truck come with tray tables  ! Besides that, the second could help. Not sure what you guys had to cut last time (if anything), but do i need to grab any thing for the chainsaw deal? Jon has his, and it doesn't sound like Dan is participating for this run. It would be best to know by six in the morning so I can grab anything before I leave the shop in tommorow. I like extra chains incase one runs it trough the dirt or hits a rock. Jon, what size is yours?

I have a 16" Stihl with one extra chain.

My first post. I want to play in the snow may I come along. I'm sorta new at it and may need some help. I had a great time on the tree run.

do you meet the minimum requirements above? this will most likely be very different from the tree run. i don't remember which vehicle you were in.

but, expect it to be like the hard spot around the tree we had on the tree run...every 10 feet, no joke. we do have several more snow runs coming up that will be for more stock vehicles. New Years Day, middle of Jan., Feb 1-Superbowl Sunday, probably a middle of Feb run too.

look at posts #36 and #44, to see if you have the minimum requirements. if so, come on down! i don't want to scare you off, but don't want to sugar coat it either. this one ain't gonna be easy. :D

I believe I meet the requirements. 35" tires, chains for rear, locked all around, shakles front(pink) and rear(blue):). No winch(I haven't stolen Dan's yet). I'll be on my own no kids or Husband. Have you quessed who I am yet?
