I just got my fastners today! THANKS cdan! '

Having the fastner recievers installed this week by the guy who is doing my seat covers.

Q:
Where do the fastner recievers go? On the inside piece of material or the outside piece of material?

Should be two flaps of material. You want the grommets on the inside flap. Make sure you mark the spot for the grommets a little high (around 1/16" to 1/8").

What did you use for the receivers?

The pakistan ones?

Thanks for the info Ground Up. I'll pass the placment along to my installer. He said he'd loan me the tool to do it but knowing me, I'd 'eff it up. The reason I asked it that I saw somewhere a pretty reliable pic of an early 40 with the fastners on the outside. Wish I could find the pic.

Kurt--- No recievers with the top from Eshan. My installer had a few that'll fit but needs to order some more. It'll take about a week or so to get them in. THey look like they'd fit pretty good. These were brass but he said he could get ss.

Earlier in this thread I mentioned that the number of fastners according to the EPC (ok micro fishe) was 22. On my 68 tub, there were 18 pre-drilled holes meaning 4 left over. Well I found where the 4 extra go. Interesting:

Oh yean, one more thing about the top. Footman loops. Check your year for the number of footman loops. On the 68 there were 6 only (3 on each swing out door). On later models the top and footman loops changed. Ground Up has a pic of what I'm talking about on his rebuild thread.

The top I got from Eshan has 10 loops I believe 2 for each s/o door and 3 that go around the tub on each side. Earlier styles did not have these. There was a discussion on pirate about this too. (FWIW  )

And yet another "do" for the Paki top...

Do measure the back bows from the bottom of your bed to the top arch. The specs call for this measurement to be 1200mm. The bows I got were too long so I had to cut the bottoms off on each side. I had to take about 2" off each bow to get it to match the front bow height (and the 1200mm height). I was wondering why my top was not fitting properly and now it fits perfectly. My guess is that they intentionally left these rear bows a little long. The front bow height was dead on. Good thing cause you can't cut those!

stainless buckles

GREETINGS IH8MUD.. this is my first post.. amazing site.. yadda yadda yadda..

Does anyone know a place to get stainless buckles to replace the rusty ones that i'm sure everyone with one of these tops has? Other than that i think Ehsan's tops are the absolute balls.. i love mine. Here's a pic of my 11/74 with OEM bows and Paki top.. my first pic on IH8MUD and definitely not the last.
