I wouldn't clear coat. What happens when you need to touch up? Spray over the clear coat then have to re-coat?

Just hit it with some black paint and enjoy. touch up when/where it's needed.

also a good point...black wheels are going on thursday, roof rack on saturday(also the signature "nick" rattlecan finish):D

on the other hand, your wheels should be safe with rattlecan unless you beat the s*** out of them like nick does haha

Looks very good! Did you paint the sombreros?

Looks great Paul. This is on my short list of summer projects.

Another vote for Graphite. I used Duplicolor Graphite Gray Mica (for Mazda). I also did the OCD thing with the center caps.

I'm not a colored wheel guy but that looks cool.

Probably gonna do this with a new (to me) set of 18" Tundies. Has anyone done the duplicolor graphite with a thunder cloud hundy? Any pics? I don't want it too monotone looking...

How many cans of spray paint do you need to do 4 or 5 wheels?

I use one can per 4 rims on a respray. First time around get 2 cans and return the unused one.

I was going to paint the emblems but at the last minute I decided to mask them off.... put masking tape over the sombrero's, "molded" the masking tape with my fingernail, then took an exacto knife and trimmed the masking tape.

BTW there's a super easy way to do this... Just put some petroleum jelly on your finger, spread over the emblems, paint, and then when dry; just wipe them off and wash with soap and water. TaDa!

I have used that method to mask my tires but didn't even think about it for the emblems. Great idea!
