Paint color of the frame

I have a BJ42 up here in Canada, I would like to paint the frame and axles, what is the right color of black for the axles and frame.

It sounds like you're doing a frame-off on something. If I was going to that much trouble, I would personally use something better than Rustoleum as my topcoat. It's not bad paint but there's so much better stuff on the market. Yes other stuff is more expensive but you've already invested in taking something down to the frame.

I've heard very good things about Rust Bullet and started to use it on my axles recently but in the end went with POR15 because I wanted to use their chassis black topcoat and because everyone said the POR15 was more self-levelling than the Rust Bullet. Rust Bullet makes a topcoat as well but it's gloss black whereas the chassis black is satin. I am pretty sure you can put the POR15 chassis black on top of the rust bullet and, if I were you, I would use that or something similar. You really only want to do this once.

the frame paint on the factory fj40 is a gloss black the same as the steering bars and axles so many people think it was a flat semi flat or satin because gloss paint was not used on many vehicles but trust me or ask attlas1x he seems to be one of the best educated in factory landcruiser stuff order a new steering arm from toyota or drag link and you can see for yourself

Check ATTLAS1x last build. Satin Black (powder coat) was sooo sexy...

Gloss is what I did mine in, but the satin has that "almost" gloss look, and is just damn cool.
