Very interested in picking up an RV5 from Oztent - if you don't know them check out youtubes (oztent - YouTube), they set up in 30 seconds and are Aussie tough/awesome basecamps). At $1000 a pop though, I am doing due diligence for any MUD deals?

Or any interest in a group buy? Maybe we get TT to bring 10 in on his next container from down under?

Maybe a Bass Pro coupon? They show them on their website. Does BassPro do the 20% coupons at all?

family tent camping has some deals right now.
thansk for the suggestion, but looks like the RV5 is out of stock - wondering how that compares to the Eyre 2, seems like similar size and just different material? Wonder if the original material is worth the extra $100, anyone seen both in person and can comment?

Stay with the RV platform. Tried and true.

I have had mine for 10 years and still in great shape. The outer bag is badly worn but other than that awesome tent.

Call them they probably have some on the water.

Call or message Family Tent Camping. They sometimes have stock, but not yet listed because its still in the container. They are great to deal with. I've bought all kinds of Oztent stuff from them. Fast shipping.

Family Tent Camping will occasionally have sales on demo tents. Good folks to deal with too.

I've been about to pull the trigger on an RV5 for the last couple months. I noticed they dropped in price by $200 dollars right after the first of the year on both family tent camping and on oztent's website. Now they are out of stock at family tent camping. Are they going to discontinue them or something? My plan was to buy the oztent this year and add the side panels next year and the front panel the next year. And so on. Helps with the sting of the $$$ to break it up like that. I'm worried now that I won't be able to get the other stuff in the future. But I would definitely be interested in a group buy to discount it further.

Thanks for the info - personally I would be surprised if they drop it as I think it has been around for ages, with great reviews & well loved - that said who knows how profitable the company is? There's always the used market for those extra bits too - might take a bit longer to track them down but they're out there.

I'm in on a group buy for sure. Only thing that could derail that would be if it takes too long. I'm thinking I'll need to get one pretty soon. My buy finger is getting very itchy. :D

I have not compared the two but I have the RV-5 and think the heavy, poly canvas material is the best part of of the tent.

Would be interested to see if the group buy was an option. Have been eyeing these for years.

I'm surprised there isn't more interested folks in a group buy for the oztent. Would it be inappropriate to post up in some of the other places here on mud? I think a lot of people don't frequent this section.

@cruzerDave Have you found out anything from oztent about the possibility of a discount for a group buy?

I just bought a new tent three weeks ago. I was looking at the Oztent but ended up with something else.

agreed, not sure where they WOULD find it though?

not yet, will let you know here tho

I'm thinking about getting a ground tent, but as I already have a rooftop I doubt I'd go with an expensive one for the few times i'd want to be able to leave the tent to wheel. Not sure I'm ready to go full ground tent and sell the RTT
