Hey gang, I have been a member since I bought a 97 Lexus LX450. I sold that to buy a tahoe that I could fit all my family in and tow my car trailer more easily. I have always checked out the site and am VERY happy to say I just picked up a 1979 FJ55 last night!

She is big, heavy, rusty, noisy ugly rig and ALL MINE!!!!

I could not be happier. I waited 3 weeks to get it, the sellers were out of town for 2 weeks and I patiently waited for them to get back into town. It needs some love. I was going to postpone posting pics until I cleaned it but I knew most of you wouldn't care. I am planning a good scrubbing, seats shampooed, a R&P swap, lockers F&R, 35" tires without a spring over if I can (don't mind trimming metal away, sorry purists, power steering swap (it has P.S. but the original kind that sucks), fixing the rear window, winch bumper, rectangular tubing for rock guards, rear bumper/body protection after liberal sheetmetal trimming, and some type of exo cage. It runs but I need some carb work to keep it on the road (running). I am grateful for all the info I have received/gathered on this site so far and am looking forward to learning more! Maybe I can even help too.

The previous owners had it for quite a while, apparently they were from Washington state. Last year they went to the Baja Pennisula with it from MN and had some work done in Truth or Consequenses NM. They were quite sad to see it go and I reassured them it would be taken care of and driven. My daughter

calls it the dream car... she said the P.O. told her it would rock her to sleep as we drive. I really like this rig. I have to sell my 1964 IH 4 door 2wd lowrider truck to balance out the running/non-running count to equal...
