Has anyone been to the Overland Expo and is it worth going? I really just wanted to check out some of the vendors.

Thanks
Shawn

It is worth going to strictly for ideas plenty of different venders and classes on proper winching and camp cooking. But IMO it's strolling through the camp sites that gives you the best since of ideas from actual field use to redneck innovations

I really enjoy the expo. I would recommend buying a day pass and checking it out. In addition to the vendors, it is always fun to see the Unimogs, Global Expedition Vehicles, Sportsmobiles, etc. If you like it you can consider doing the 3-day program next year, which includes classes and additional benefits.

I'm going up this year and camping a night or two. How about a Copper State group camp?

its cool to stroll around, and for $20 the day pass is worth it, most of the vendors and booths are cool with some things you prolly never new existed. but be prepared, lots of things like $300 camp chairs and $400 camp stoves.

if you want "the experience" ya know, participating a class, sitting in on a lecture from some "expedition" guru and stuff like that it'll cost ya something like $200.

When did camping change from :hillbilly: to :princess:?

Yea this year I'm going to have to pass on OE was figuring on originally treating my self with a birthday camping outing at OE but work and money are forcing to say home so y'all have a great time. And Phil being that your a overland virgin the best thing to do is on e you scoped out all that lovely overpriced goodies I find it a real treat to stroll through the camp sites and check out what others are doing you get much better ideas for future projects that way if ya ask me

I picked up my Slee SB bumper from Cristo there last year and met the gang through the course of the day I was there. There were about 5-6 rows of double sided vendors selling everything you could imagine or possibly need for going offroad. I was still new to the game and managed to not spend obscene amounts of $$$ , but one certainly could. There were plenty of cool things to check out, and the motorcycle pen with riders practicing and learning was a cool place to eat a few brats at lunch. I'd give yourself plenty of time to walk the vendor booths, and you'll see a lot of well known names while there.

As others have mentioned, it's fun to walk the campsites, too,but people are camping there and it's more like a Walmart parking lot than "camping". Make time to watch the winching demo (free) or there were also camp chef demos throughout the day that you could participate in ($).

The wifey and I will be there Friday or Saturday.

What are the burn restrictions up there? Anyone know?

I'll be there in the vendor section , probably Friday and Saturday. Baja Designs asked to display my FJ. Come say hello . I will also camp the 2 nights.

Burn restrictions are in affect. I think you can only use gas grills. I got that from the expo website

Dude, your light design is unique and one of the best new idea Ive seen in a while. I think it will be a hit!

I will be up...with the Fox shocks guys from SoCal. They will be unveiling a new line of mid priced bolt on shocks for the 100 series and another Jeep model that I can't remember off the top of my head. Stop by and check them out.

First time going and looking forward to cooler weather - day pass only. If anyone is leaving late Friday afternoon, let me know and we can all cruise up there together.

I will be there from Wednesday through Sunday. I am a staff member working the event. Hope to see you there!!

The buzz word is not expeditioning its overlanding for EXPO

The phrase Expedition travel started in 1972 with Gary and Monika Wescott with the Turtle Expedition when did you start?
