Hey guys and gals just curious is anyone going to Overland Expo East in Oct? I know for sure I am going since I couldn't make it to flagstaff this year. Would be cool if we had a convoy from ONSC there. I am thinking about taking the week off and hit up some trails while I am out that way before and after the expo.

I am about to loose my s__t! October cannot get here quick enough. I think my to-do list on LX just got a little bit longer.

Currently, the majority of the details have yet to be announced. The dates are Oct 3-5 in Asheville.

Here is the info so far (including ticket info):

I am planning on adding another hurricane creek trip while I am down there. Plus, there are some fun trails down in the brevard area.

I plan to go and hopefully have a booth set up. The contact for the expo said they needed to get through the west event and then would have a lot more details. I absolutely do not want to wish summer away but I am ready to go!!

I will probably go, as I am only an hour south of Asheville.

Slight hijack ...

Can you elaborate (possibly by PM)? My mother lives in Brevard and I get over there reasonably often. I have not found anything yet (other than great Mountain Biking in DuPont State Forest).

I plan to go... was all set for the trip OEX-West and work stuff blew it up. Wont miss OEX-East. I just read that Clay Croft and the X-Overland Crew is confirmed to be there. If you haven't seen their episodes on YouTube for the Alaska trip, you really should check it out!

That's correct Clay will be there and highly recommend their show to those who have not watched it before. Season 1 was better from off road perspective, but the show does a terrific job showing what overlanding is really about.

I'd love to go this year, missed ones in the past... Our October trip is supposed to be Black Balsam with Upstate, but last year they switched the dates on us. I'd put this as a backup for the October trip, in case something happens again...

They just updated the website with registration info... full weekend is a little pricy, but it would be cool.

Shasta best be up an running by then... so yeah im in.

I was considering it but after reading a lot of posts on the expo board about the one out west, it does have me wondering. Apparently there is a pretty hefty ticket fee to attend the classes but from what i read anyone can just walk up and into the classes. So, i'm not trying to work the system, but why pay a big price if it's sponsor supported classes and anyone can attend with or without a ticket?

I don't know if things have changed recently, but I can assure you when I went 2012 that was not the case at all. Those who had day passes were restricted from the majority of the activities. From what I could tell the majority of those with day passes spent their time in the vendor area. I do agree the cost is up there, but the way I am viewing it is, I am saving major money on the travel expenses. Plus, when I went out there I had to fly in so I had a rental with no camping equipment. Couldn't enjoy the event to it fullest, but this time I will be ready. My biggest complaint when I went was there were classes going on at the same time so I was forced to pick and choose between classes that I wanted to take. I am sure I missed out on so very informative conversations.

You guys are making me think about another trip to NC. I have been watching the X-overland while feeding Nora bottles. Mary and I are contemplating are own expedition in 3 years, which means more mods for Sgt Pepper.... HMM

We will be there. I don't know why I paid for the whole shebang as we will not even be camping as the princess wanted a cabin. So we will be staying in a cabin up the road a bit when not at the event. Hopefully the wife participates in some of the classes but I doubt she will. We are bringing the Excursion instead of the 80 and I will be caravanning up with my buddy and his well equipped XJ. We should all find a spot to meet up. Looking forward to see many of the old crowd again.

By the way I never get on here anymore. Something about the new forum format and I just never made the effort to learn it and come back. I'll try to check this before we leave though and if you do set something up, shoot me an e-mail directly.
