Output of a stock '78 alternator? (1 Viewer)

I ordered a reman for a '78 and it came with a data card with testing specs. It says "Maximum output 68amps" That seems high to me. Did the stock ND alternators put out that much?

I thought they were 45 amps or so......I've seen it posted elsewhere that the stock wiring can't handle more than 50.....

Yes, I have heard that, too. I wonder if a 50amp resetting breaker would offer any protection. My rig is old enough that it does not have a fusible link Maybe I should add that, too.
