Cut the old 62 mounts off, gett8ng ready to weld in my mounts in place so that the motor can be dropped in.. gotta get the bottom of the cab cleaned and undercoating in some fashion. Lots of work still.

Finally got the motor mounts and tranny cross member welded. Now I gotta address a few things with motor.

Ok, so I finished messing with my pickup. Perhaps a couple things left to do, but for now, will focus on the 60. Motor is in. Ready to start getting this thing back together. I wanted to replace the seal between the t case and tranny, but by the looks of the fsm, I might need some pullers? Is that correct, or will the gear trains come off easily?
Got a bunch of brand new parts to throw at it..

Very nice. Glad to see you’re getting back on it. Should not need a puller on the t-case. I believe the book calls for it but I’ve never needed one on all the input gears/bearings I’ve removed on these cases.

Took apart the t-case...all good until I drained the tranny oil.

I found out upon draining it that the transmission oil had metal shavings in it. Also found a couple bigger chunks in the oil. Transmission shifted fine and made no weird noises, but I guess its time to rebuild.
This means that everything on this truck has been touched!

I have at least 6 bearing puller types, and I still don't have enough to do this job!! Sheesh, I still have to buy more. wtf!!
Trying to get the tranny rebuilt.

Not yet, I am hitting road blocks due to lack of tools! And I have tools, no kidding. Again, need skinny jaw bearing pullers. I might grind some of mine down. Once past that, I can continue dismantling. This is also my first time taking down an H55F.

Guys, can anyone share a part number or a brand of a puller with really skinny legs and at least 11" of reach? This transmission is a damn puzzle, I tell u that. I finally got the input shaft out, with some make shift pullers, but then I tried removing the outputshaft bearing, again with makeshiftpullers, and it won't budge.

I made some really skinny legged pullers out of some metal I had laying around, added some weld beads on both sides of legs to try to aneal the metal and add strength. It just won't work. Can someone recommend a puller? I'm bout to throw this thing away and buy new!
Oh, and I forgot to mention, the output shaft bearing is the one that has crunch in it! I'm thinking that there lies the problem. There is excessive play and crunching when spinning the shaft.

Looks like I managed. Made some pullers, worked well but I had to really work to get that bearing out.
Now on to inspecting.

So , I can't find the source of the metal flakes. Been cleaning the tcase and getting that ready for the rebuild as well. I'll take the gears and synchros of the shaft to see if I can find anything, but all looks good. More prodding needed I guess. I do need a new counter shaft. Mine is buggered. Sigh..

Ok, phheeww, got the lay shaft. Now to start getting this back together.

I'm gonna go out on a limb and guess that the shavings came from the layshaft, but sure looked like a lot more metal than looks like it's missing here.

Got the main shaft taken apart, replaced needle bearings and inspected the synchros and gears. Everything looks great, got that back together. I then replaced the input shaft bearing and called it a night.

Guys, wth is up with the input shaft? Can I get some advice here? I can't get the damn thing to go onto the main shaft. The end with the needles just won't go in. It binds and so on. I tried for two hours straight to get the damn thing on. Anyone have any pointers??
