Ouray convoy and meetup thread, Aug 7-11, 2019

Everyone,

Please post up in this thread any convoy info or meetups for the upcoming Ouray trip. Some folks are asking me about convoys and such so it makes sense to discuss that topic here.

My plan is to depart ABQ after Isabelle's 9th grade registration which starts at 10:30. I'm hoping to be outta ABQ by noon barring any unforeseen circumstances. I have to meetup with @Tank5 and do a mudship for someone near San Ysidro.

A good meetup place is North Portal which is the area of 528 & 550. There's a Home Depot due west of that intersection on 550 which is a good one.

You should have a radio for convoys but if not, pipe up and I'm sure you can borrow a hand held from someone. Most of us who are HAM operators, tend to carry extra radios on trips.

I would love to convoy/caravan up to the campground. I know exactly where that Home Depot is; it’s a perfect meet up spot, as you can hit the 550 from it. My schedule to leave is pretty open, so if you want to convoy let me know when you plan to leave and I’ll make it work.

I also just acquired two HAM radios, so I have a spare if needed.

This got derailed and I didn't see it and started another in the original trip thread.

Depending how late you end up being, I may catch up after your Jemez detour. My younger registered for 9th grade today, so that won't slow me down. We have to take her friend to the airport for a 1:something flight back to MD, so I don't know when I'll actually be on the road.

I don't have a HAM yet, so would love to borrow one once up there.
