Well this happened…

Parking ticket? Ouch!!

But seriously... are you in CLT or Boone right now? What is your plan to handle this?
I’m actually in Chapel Hill for the weekend. Had to get it towed to a shop and not exactly sure what to do. My plan now is to wait until the shop opens Monday and see what they say.

Any pics from underneath? Specifically of the tie rod behind the axle. One of those tie rod ends let go.

I’m not sure if the hardware is the same or different but I have some knuckle hardware from my 60 front axle if needed. I’m in Durham.

It does look like it’s the lower knuckle studs. You can see the lower piece hanging off the end underneath.

SHOULD BE THE SAME

looks like the lower trunion bearing studs let go.
i should have the needed (used) parts on hand to fix it.

Tire would be flopped over to the side if that happened, not just pigeon toed.

I have seen multiple 80 series steering knuckle arms come off at low speed and the wheel still upright. might want to replace the innner axle seal as well, with all the weight on the berf pushing on it, it is most likely deformed and will probably leak.
A better view of the axle (pic) would be helpful though.

That would be lucky then! I've only ever seen them flop over when that happens. Nothin keeping the knuckle upright when those fall out!

@fordoford what shop is the truck at? I will look in my hardware stash tomorrow and see what I have if you want to give fixing it a go.
It’s at auto logic in Carrboro. I’ll head over there in a minute and take more pictures

yeap. those broken studs generally come out pretty easy.

remember to re-torque those nuts to 71ft/lbs at least once a year or after any hard wheeling.

Trunion bearing studs and knuckle studs are the same thing? And steering arm studs? No sarcasm there. I have a hard time with all the nomenclature - like propellor shaft/drive shaft. Serious question because the FSM and parts lists often are different from the terms we usually use in the USA.
