Options for ARB Fog Lights?

Trunk Monkey's Comments in his Light Force thread - about what to do with his fog lights that are not used on his ARB bumper got me thinking this morning.

I have the Sahara Bar - but no ARB fog light kit - just the plastic covers -

The fog light kit from ARB is $350 - - I thought that was a bit steep for two lights and a couple of light harnesses.

Has anyone used other lights, or found another set up that would work with the fogs in the ARB Saraha Bar?

Ahhhhh - I knew someone would ask that - I'm stuck at work - 100 is at home. I'll post up measurements tonight.

The fog lights are ARB part no. 9249fck - they don't have a way to look up specs of the kit on their usa website.

I almost put par36 super led red lights in....but wentwith the arb kit since I was lazy. I've got three Hella 4000s waiting to be put on but again...I'm lazy.

The diameter is just over 4" for the blank

$350 from ARB. They told me they are high end PIAA lights with Toyota OEM harness - plug and play into old foglight plugs.

Nah, you can get some pigtails off Ebay for ~$10 and a small dia. light for $100, be good to go.

ARB USA told you all this? Wow, you must have gotten the newbie. Mine have "IPF" clearly formed in the glass. And no, they don't plug and play into the OEM harness.

Nice lights, though. Not $350 nice, but not bad. Slightly better than OEM IMHO, plus you get the "OEM" look of fitting precisely in the bumper cut-outs.

edit: I suppose in the time since I bought mine they could have changed the plugs to plug into the OEM harness, but I very much doubt they now use PIAA lamps, since IPF is the ARB "house" brand. Also, if you use the OEM harness, you have to settle for the pitifully thin OEM wiring. I prefer the setup that came with my ARB foglights, with a dedicated relay and direct connection to the battery, with the factory wiring only tapped into for switching.

Still that is expensive...very expensive!

The IPF are the ones I have also. They fit nicely and were easy to install.

Sooooo ARB= IPF since everything dealing with IPF is directly through ARB.




Whats everyones take on the IPF fog lights that are meant for the inserts? Good/ Bad? Bright/ Not Bright?

Anyone here try the PIAA 510's?? Think they might be a tad small, but seems like they would work. And they are cheaper than the IPF's......

they're decent(edit: the IPFs, havent tried the PIAA), very flat beam, pretty wide, if I'm done tearing my interior apart(in the garage now) before sunrise, I'll block off my headlights and take a picture of the beam pattern for ya.

OK, for anyone that's curious about the ARB fog light kit for the sahara/combo bars here are some pictures and a quick video. The video is just a loop around the street with my headlights covered so only the IPF lights integrated in the bumper are projecting light.

The 200 LC Bumper lights from ARB is way cheaper than the 100 Series Sahara. The 100 series lights come with an elaborate bracket kit that allows all kinds of adjustment using screws and it has a spring setup to stop vibrations I believe. The 200 is not like that. $350 vs $70 sounds about right.

The cost of the ARB fog lights played a role in my decision to go with a custom bumper. I really like the OEM fog lights and I didn't want to lose the feature, but $350 was a big chunk of change for a set of lights and drove up the price of the bumper.

On my custom bumper I went with some utilitarian tractor lights and I really like the flood pattern they throw out, it's very similar to the OEM lights, maybe a little brighter, and they won't give me a heart attack when they inevitably crack and have to be replaced.
