Costco

cost?

I was in costco this afternoon, but didn't write the prices down.

red top at costco was $104-ish
yellow top was 149-ish
blue top was 145-ish

I was wondering why the blue was a little cheaper than the yellow...

I bought a yellow top at Costco for $130 a couple of months ago.

thanks!

Citadel, where are you located? SC?

Those that are buying the Red Tops at Costco, are they the GM, dual top and side post models? If so, are you just putting your hold-down bar across the part of the battery where the connections go down to the sides?

originally from Charleston, SC but now residing in AUstin TExas...

Costco is definitely the place to get a battery because of thier liberal return policy. Spiral type batterys (like the optima) are the way to go for off road use. I've had good luck with mine.

I bought two Optima D31A batteries a month ago for $300 (total delivered). The UPS chick was quite annoyed with me. I have a D31A in my wife's truck and two of them in mine.

The D31a are yellow tops. Do your own research, but I don't think you really want a red top. Check out the yellow top and blue top batteries.

OK. I was worried about wearing through the plastic to the part of where the side posts come out. So I got the old-style Optima with only top posts. The hold down bar only contacts those two points on the top of the battery, not along the entire edge. I found a local dealer that sells the top-post-only blems for $50 ea., but it's in Phoenix.

$145.99 + tax for a blue top D31A at Costco, about a month ago.

Mine Was FREE!!! :flipoff2:

....brought a leaky battery I had laying around still under warrenty (just under 3yrs old) to costco and they gave me a brand new red top optima!

i wish mine were free....

You have to be careful now buying red tops. There are two versions. There is the standard version available with different post combinations and there is a new cheaper line. I can't recall what it is called but make sure when you price shop you compare apples to apples. Costco in Idaho has red tops fro $99.99 plus the $5 fee makes them $104.99.
