I am looking at a new set of wheels for the 40 and I can't make up my mind. So I think some unbiased help would be nice. Both of these are Pro Comp wheels and I am going with a 15' or 16" x8 Which would be the best option for the 40?

For looks, I like the 2nd option better.

I would check what sizes the tire I want comes in before deciding on a wheel size. For a 40 you might find that the tires you want only come in an E range tire in 16" but come in C or D for a 15" wheel. The E range will work, but will be much stiffer and heavier than a C range tire.

I have a soft spot for staying stock. My favorite combination is stock steel rims with 33 x 9.5 x 15. Pretty sure you can only get 10.5s now. Attaching pics of 33 and also 31s...both on stock rims.
My feelings about stock cruisers were reinforced when I made a trip to the huge car show at the Daytona Speedway last Thanks giving with thoughts of looking for an old Pontiac convertible. I saw many to consider. What I didn't see was another cruiser...nothing even close to being as cool as a stock Landcruiser. These are really unique vehicles and anybody can throw some bling on a car. Finding a stock classic rig is special. A little lift, some new paint or even a motor upgrade is fine with me, but lookin stock is cool.
Good luck finding your own way to what you like best. It has taken me 17 cruisers and over 15 years to appreciate them just the way they were intended.

I'm partial to the OEM white steelies myself. Please don't buy fake beadlocks...they scream poser.

X2. These are alright for an 80 or newer but not sure about a 40. I have long ago learned that everyone has their own aesthetic and who am I to say what is right for you but my $0.02 is there has to be something modern that works with the older feel. I even like the wheels ICON uses. But fake beadlocks are not ok.

simple is usually right... 1973 fj55

1. It is a shame that 33 x 9.5 x 15 tires are history.

2. Adding a bunch of bling to a Land Cruiser is equivalent to a fine looking woman getting tattoed and facial pierced so that she looks like she fell face first into a tackle box. Visually, some things just can't be improved upon.

Thanks for the comments guys. After realizing a few things I am going to either stay with the white ones on the truck or go with some stock grey ones except a lot wider that the factory 6" rims.

I agree
I love the feeling of driving a 50 year old truck the way it was
How cool is it to wheel passed some totally ridiculous looking lifted heap or ranger in a stock rig
This is also when you might throw them a Coors Banquet Beer for after the run
How sweet

Good for you, nice call.. Those white spokers, however are not OEMs they look like an old set of stamped "American Racing" spokers, which back in the 70s was the "go to" wagon wheel for those that didn't want to spend the big bucks on a set of welded Jackmans..
