Just to give a PSA / reason to my getting KM3’s :

I’ll hit the 10% mark since the 5% is a store card (not for me) - and as much as I’d like to catch Luke & talk Nitto tires, the sale ends before I even see him or have a chance to BS.

I’ll just get myself in tomorrow & lock a set of KM3’s on order - Nitto’s tires may work, but a sale on the tires I think act like ‘clay mud’ tires in a tidal change/algae ring - I can overkill it for a 10% bump.

I had KM2's and they "cupped" on me even though I did the scheduled rotation. It made them really loud and it was a rougher ride on pavement.

I am running Toyo MTs but would consider the KM3's. I cannot get Toyo MTs in 37's, they only come in 38's and will rub with a Slee 4" lift. I can run the KM3's in 37 with no rubbing.

I have to admit I really like the Toyo's. A KM2 in a 315 weighs 67 lbs. A Toyo MT in a 315 weighs 76 lbs. The sidewalls are considerably thicker. Not sure of the weight on the KM3's but I am hearing the sidewalls are significantly better.

So here’s where I’m at:

I can either pay ~$460 pre-tax & install, for KM3’s
-or- I can pay ~$357 pre-tax & install, for KM2’s

Bottom line - do you guys who have been through both tires, think KM3’s are worth $100 more each corner?
***IDK how old the KM2’s are, at all - Discount tire / closeout priced***

Do the KM2’s or spend $400 for the KM3’s?

It’s a size tire for my Tundra, but this forum sees more guys who have been through multiple sets of any tire, so I figure my odds of getting 100% voices of experience are going to happen here.
Both tires are as good as it gets. KM2 won’t disappoint. Save your money.

@LINUS I think you're past this point, but I just saw this thread, and thought I would ask. Have you thought about going back down to stock 18" ( Unsure what that does to each tire price). I had an incident 3 years ago and banged up a rear rim pretty good but was able to find a set of 4 OEM 5 spoke 18's for 150 bucks.
Just a thought.
last tires I had on the Tundra are/were Dueler AT/Revo 2's

@MrMikeyG -I’d planned to go to the local brick/mortar Discount today & get a set of KM3’s paid for, but that’s tomorrow morning now.

My Tundra is a real Rock Warrior (de-stickered & bro-truck‘d with 20’s & overkill 6” lift ATM  ) - But I did pickup a set of project 17” Rock Warrior wheels to refurb/powdercoat black down the line once I buy land / have a place for projects.
I need to buy a set of their specific lugnuts and finding a 5th RW 17” wheel would be nice, but otherwise complete.

I bought the truck as I was owned by a friend, he takes amazing care of his toys & it’s only got 63,xxx on it now w/ me. —(It’s either a ‘12 or ‘13 -pre-facelift G2 anyhow)—

It’s dirty, but low miles/great shape under the dirt.

For now, the 20’s are actually better for towing, so by the time I get land / get the RW wheels re-hab’d - then I can say have KM’s for the 17’s & possibilities for things like Nitto or whatever tire seems best then can go on the 20” wheels.

Better to have & not need than to need & not have.
I don't get that logic. Why aren't you running bias Swampers boggers? If you're rig sees mostly (or only) pavement time, ATs are just a better choice. They will work better in the rain, snow, etc. and on the pavement much better than mud tires. I know people like the looks because mud tires look tougher, but if you really care about how the rig is used and how it responds to those parameters, you get the tires are are appropriate to that use.

I get your logic. I ran BFG all-terrains when my rig was a daily driver. Once it became a trail / hunting truck I switched to mud tires. You get better mileage out of an All-Terrain tire and BFG makes a really good one. I wore through 2 sets and got more than 60K out of each set. I never punctured the side of any BFG tire I had, All-Terrain or Mud tire.

Late to the party but I will take a Mikey Thompson Baja MTZP3 over any other mud tire. I run them on 3 trucks and will soon convert a 4th.

what's the fourth truck ?

My BJ74. I have the Mickeys on two 80s and a one ton Dodge Power wagon.

I have owned the km2’s on my fj40’s, fj60’s and fzj80’s . I use to buy at Discount Tire, but found out that Big O has better prices and they are more flexible with mounting oversized tires on factory wheels. I just bought my second set of km3’s. I noticed they are much quieter on the street. I can’t tell much difference Offroad though.

Scroll down to see the 80 they used to advertise the KM3’s. 😁

Sorry but I’m not into anything BFG makes. The KM’s look like they might work well in rocks and mud but be noisy on road and lacking traction in slick hard surfaces.

I had MTZs a few years back (not P3s though). Loved them, but they didn't wear well on paved roads.
