Didja try sizing up the amp within the quarterpanel?

I am worried about having it INSIDE the quarter panel for air circulation and what if I hit it going off-road? the amp would take a big hit. Inside it wouldn't be as bad.... but that looks really nice the way you have it. Makes me re-think installing it there.
If all you're pushing with that amp is that little 12, it shouldn't have problems staying cool within the panel
I run a pair of 10's @ 2ohms HARD on a daily basis and the amp barely gets warm
As for body damage, well, I'm not as hard core to say that I expect to crush my quarter
I'd actually be more worried about passengers and little hands mucking with the amp in plain view
Doc use 1/2" mdf. my opinion would be to use back straps and make a floating rack. That way if you do hit something it doesn't amplify the damage (pun intended). I would show you my install but I am waiting for the sound deadner to come in before I put any thing audio related in my truck.
Another suggestion that I would have is to make a custom box. You can get the sub specs from the manufacturer and build it out .75" mdf. It is an improvement i would say over a pre-fabricated box. A 4x8 sheet of MDF should run $20-$25. If you have never built a box just visit JL Audio for their tutorials and they should help.

For 'tight' bass, the sub I have works best in a 1.3 cft sealed enclosure. What I have is about 1.2 cft. Shouldn't be too far out of the 'sweet spot'?
Sealed boxes are pretty forgiving, so I wouldn't worry too much about .1 ft^3.

I do have the blueprints to make a ported box, it wouldn't be that hard, but it would take up the entire rear of my truck (behind the third row) and wouldn't leave me any room for my recovery gear (which I take everywhere.....). So I'm hesitant....
A little loosely packed polyfill creates the characteristics of a larger box if needed.

fyi that rear seat comes off super easy when you flip it up towards the window, pull up on the black handle slide forward and it comes off the bracket, Just looks a little cramped back there.
