I am having trouble getting spade terminal ends for a zero gauge cable. I may have to put in a distribution block to size down the cable right before the amp. Hmmmm...... Back to the stereo shop!

Yeah, the plan is to run a medium to small inverter in the back as well. Double battery is happening next fall or winter.

I actually hit a pretty good snag on this project tonight. I got everything wired up and the sub wasn't firing. Swapped wires out to a regular speaker outlet and it was working... then swapped input cables to the other amps (this amp is actually three tied together..) still nothing from the sub... Called Kicker Tech support and tried a few more things. I ended up pulling the amp out and I'm sending it to Kicker tomorrow. I think the Sub channel is funked. Hopefully it won't cost too much to repair. So far I'm into this thing for less than $100 and I'd like to keep it that way.

I laughed when I read your thread. I just did the same thing. I had a Rockford Fosgate 150HD (old school cheater amp-about 500 watts continuous bridged) tucked away in a box along with a couple of 12" Kicker XPLs, and a Kenwood 6 disc changer (along with 2 other monster Kenwood amps that will remain out of service). I had already installed all of the necessary wiring to run a sub and the cd changer when I installed my Kenwood double din DPX301 head unit last year. I've been dragging my feet on any new mods (or finishing mods in limbo) until recently.

About a month ago I hooked it all up. Not too extravagant, but it is nice to have full volume when I want to turn it up. I only used one of the 12" XPLs in a sealed box (the original box for two 12s cut in half and resealed) under the rear deck. The Fosgate just barely fit under my driver seat about one foot away from my 2/0 wire terminals on the 2300 watt inverter under my passenger seat. It was like it was meant to be. I had to turn the power gains way down on the sub. Sounds very good though for the $25 bucks I had to spend on the mega speaker cable from radio shack.

Hopefully your amp will only need an easy repair. Cheap boom is nice to have.

lol... actually, I'm going to remove that post...

Anyway, if you have done the 1/0 awg run. You might as well do the big3 as well. Its worth it x1000000

The Pioneer replacement speakers arrived today and I got them installed, then put the interior back in. Everything is ready for the amp to get back!

It actually puts out really good bass. Not sure what's so funny? OK, the color change paint is a little 1990.

Let's see here, 12" sub in a sealed prefab box with a 2" setback, That's not just good bass, it's SMOKING! Good thing you went with that aught gauge wire, I'm not sure the system would cope without it.

I apologize for not being an audiophile. You are odviously a much more cultured and expert in these matters. I bow at your feet in humble adoration.

What's wrong Doc?

Don't you want to rock the ten blocks surrounding your moving vehicle like some of the kids runnin' around with earplugs in? Please.

If I would of placed my inverter/sub amp that far back, as I once considered, I would of been using 1/0 as well.

I'm not really concerned about it. I was just trying to point out it may have been more constructive had he tried to share some useful advice on how to set it up better rather than

:meh:

I'm glad I ran 0 to the rear. I can use that same line to run my inverter... or whatever else I may need to back there.

Tigra and Bunny will love it...

Realy? that jam is old! "We like the Cars, The Cars That BOOM" ha ha ha that is classic!

funny this is something I am wanting to do in my current rig with some old stuff.

nak 8"'s and 4"s plus some alp tweets and a couple of amps.

keep it coming. looks good.

It's in the air -- I've got some old components and a couple 12s I want to integrate into a storage system.

Keep up the good work and the posts Doc, I like what you're doing here.

look'n good Doc. hope it makes your time in the LC more enjoyable. I'm going to try something like this in a few months. thanks for posting your work.

Got the amp back from Kicker today. Let the boom'n commence!

:)

(comparing this to the stock set up is like comparing a cruiser to a kia)
