I picked up this 73k mile '08 E92 M3 to drive while I'm getting my FJ62 prepped and painted. I wanted to buy something younger than I was that wasn't a project car, but like all things I buy, it ended up being a project anyway.

It's been a blast to take up to TOTD and the surrounding mountain roads.

Here's what I've done to it over the year, definitely ate into my repaint budget for the FJ62:

M3 Costs

  • List $19,950.00
  • OTD 21,128.47 (NC) [Bought with pads, rotors, hood struts, coil pack done]
  • Starting mileage 73924
  • Current mileage 78xxx
  • Mechatronics sealing sleeve leaking, reseal transmission = $2,516.19
  • Rod bearings = $3,294.97
  • Throttle body actuators = $2,492.62 (didn't have this done at a BMW specialist, not the best price)
  • Continental Extreme Contact Sport tires, staggered 19 full set = $1500 - ish
  • Various trim repairs w/ OEM replacements = $600 - ish

Total maintenance = $10,400 - ish

I picked up a 15 Power Wagon earlier this year. I’ve been really happy with it. Since May I've done about 7,000 miles. It’s truly been a Swiss Army knife. Haul kids, camped out of, towed cruisers, hauled gravel, and everything else I’ve needed todo. I’ve used the lockers a few times in my own yard after hard rains. Glad I have them.

Along with my three 80s each one has a role. I have the following:

1985 UR quattro- adjustable boost, brake bias, lowered to racing height with springs and shocks, scorpion exhaust, 80/100 European lights with city function*
2005 Miata LS- eventually will autocross. Vented and drilled brakes, thicker anti-roll bars, three way adjustable shocks (Eibach),strut tie bars, chip and intake*
2020 RF Miata- frame stiffeners, thicker anti-roll bars (Mazdaspeed), soon to have adjustable fly by wire throttle control*

*All have a third pedal

Note- at work, and cannot post pics.

Introducing my latest build!

2004 2500 Cummins that will be mostly a toy build but will be driven a lot and be our long distance hauler if we ever return to that world!

Motor: Fully built “street fighter” long block from Freedom Racing engines, all supporting mods to hit 1,000 hp / 2,000 ft lbs. Will run detuned a bit though.

Transmission: Fully built billet from BD Diesel

Suspension: Thuren long arm with 3.0 Kings, running 37s. This will come last.

Should be fun...local company Tombstone Diesel is doing the build. Expecting everything to be done in next 6 weeks or so!

Will document some progress on here!

Nice!!! didn't realize it was done when you sent me the picture.

@shellb @uzj100 you'll like Andrea's new car.

Someone slammed into her zx3 focus when I was in NC last month. So we have been searching for a good replacement.

Found a SVT focus yesterday locally for dale and talked the guy down to $2500.
The SVT focus is really only an SVT by name only. In the UK it was known as the ST170 and the engine was tuned by Cosworth, and the UK motorsports division doing the suspension and 6 speed manual.. with the bean counters and CARB smog standards as a guideline.
It was the next level down from the first gen Focus RS, which was the best handling FWD car in the world until recently.

The SVT over here is quite rare and this one is even rarer as it has the EAP (European appearance package) which includes ford racing wheels, HID headlights, said black leather interior with heated recaros amd a few other things. This color is also super rare with only something like 20 imported.

It drives really nice. Has cosorth motorsports header on it and I think the CAI is coswoth also. Going to do a Cosworth exhaust and get it tuned and call it good. Other than a set of snowtires.

License plate will either be McRae or Coswrth.

We have a couple of regular Focuses at work. They are fun to drive. They do go through motor mounts like crazy. Hopefully the SVT package has stronger mounts than the regular Focus. If not, you'll snap 'em like twigs with the extra power. The non-SVT cars are actually pretty quick!

It seems to me most fwd cars with amy power go through mounts like nuts. Hell I've replaced the ones on the jetta with OEM twice. It's on my list of things to replace this year. The dog bone does need to be replaced asap.

I think a Quaife ATB diff is in order for the focus. As for power mods will do a ORP and a tune with the air box being returned to stock and a cosworth filter.

The current CAI hands way to low in this rainy area of the country.

Plate frame came in yesterday.

I seriously hope that will happen...well not the loss, but if that is what it takes then I'm all for it! Haha.
