Something I am wondering about:
- Get a low mileage low priced 1st Gen Tundra w/ Access Cab - can even be 2WD ($4-$5K)
- Swap Transmission and Transfer Case from a 100
- SAS to 80 front Axle, but keep the coils
- Keep the rear leaf, but upgrade weight limit with something like Atlas Expedition weight
- 80 locked Rear axle
- Remove Bed, build something purpose-built, high approach angle
- High approach angle front

You may end up with something that looks like this?
1999 Toyota Land Cruiser with Locking Rear Differential
Your Tundra is very capable, left foot locker worked perfectly with all that power on hand.
Could be done.... i'm sure it most likely has been done at some point.
Couple things.
I imagine the 80 axles are quite a bit more narrow than the width on the tundra so so pretty large wheel spacers may be needed.
Unless you are looking to do a "pure" toyota SAS you may be better off getting a coiled DS drop D60 from a ford and throwing in the sterling 10.5 rear axle as well while you're at it. That will put you at a wider track width but will mean you don't have have to swap trans and tcase at the same time.
of course there is always custom axles where you could have any third and length you wanted.
Dont need LSD, rather not have it. All you need is a good brake pedal and the power of the engine, will get through most situations. Left foot braking gets the differential to add torque to the spinning tire, thats what I was coaching you last Sunday and it worked!Point well taken
I know I don't have LSD on my Tundra. No bells/whistles for ATRAC - not sure that I have it, will check manuals. No open center diff, but that is kinda nice for 4Lo.
