@Rice Rice's look alike on drums at about 3:00

Brand new Hilux, wonder if they will miss it over the weekend?

Something I am wondering about:
  • Get a low mileage low priced 1st Gen Tundra w/ Access Cab - can even be 2WD ($4-$5K)
  • Swap Transmission and Transfer Case from a 100
  • SAS to 80 front Axle, but keep the coils
  • Keep the rear leaf, but upgrade weight limit with something like Atlas Expedition weight
  • 80 locked Rear axle
  • Remove Bed, build something purpose-built, high approach angle
  • High approach angle front

You may end up with something that looks like this?
1999 Toyota Land Cruiser with Locking Rear Differential

Your Tundra is very capable, left foot locker worked perfectly with all that power on hand.

Could be done.... i'm sure it most likely has been done at some point.
Couple things.
I imagine the 80 axles are quite a bit more narrow than the width on the tundra so so pretty large wheel spacers may be needed.

Unless you are looking to do a "pure" toyota SAS you may be better off getting a coiled DS drop D60 from a ford and throwing in the sterling 10.5 rear axle as well while you're at it. That will put you at a wider track width but will mean you don't have have to swap trans and tcase at the same time.

of course there is always custom axles where you could have any third and length you wanted.

Lot to think about there :) ty

FZJ80 Axles are 63.5"?
Tundra look to be 66.75"

Just a quick search, both are prolly wrong.

Point well taken :)

I know I don't have LSD on my Tundra. No bells/whistles for ATRAC - not sure that I have it, will check manuals. No open center diff, but that is kinda nice for 4Lo.
Dont need LSD, rather not have it. All you need is a good brake pedal and the power of the engine, will get through most situations. Left foot braking gets the differential to add torque to the spinning tire, thats what I was coaching you last Sunday and it worked!

Huge shout out to @Roxx !!!

Needed a run capacitor for A/C and in 24 hours he had one in my hand. House feels so much better.

Thanks Rafael!!!

This just kinda made me grin a bit.
US successfully intercepts ICBM in historic test

The nut job in North Korea is going bug nuts firing off one faulty missile after another, something like a 23% success rate. Not a one has been a true ballistic missile. So we just shoot a ballistic missile from the Marshal Islands and then shoot that down with a missile out of California. Granted, we knew where it was going. We have the technology to figure that out too. Case closed right? Get a new game guys, we have this one figured out. For that matter, do a little research on the capabilities of just one USN Ohio Class submarine.

Some smart a$$ algorithm crunching computer at Amazon wants me to get my butt whipped. I put in "gift for wife" as a search and it gives me this!

Ha. The clients place in black mountain where I saw these guys during construction continue to have near daily visits and wrecking a havoc on some plants. One in prticular, and a pricey one too of course.

They had been told not an issue once the dumpster was gone but hasnt proved to be the case.

Seems 3 of these cubs never left/split and are regular guests still these days. One was climbing the front porch column the morning of the lunch meet at straightaway.

In case you hadn't heard, Overlandbound is 'giving away' a RTT.... I say "giving away" because it's clearly a viral advertising campaign disguised as a giveaway.... but ya know, whatta you expect? They gotta make money

Win a Roof Top Tent!

Thanks! If I win I promise to have epic adventures (or sell and buy more Land Cruiser stuff). ;<)

Yeah - after reading the rules, it's a used tent they're giving away. And it's not specifically stated that they'll pay for shipping. Which on a RTT from CA to NC might be a lot.

So - cool... but maybe not as cool as an ONSC hat for free :)
