Anyone watching the olympics? 19 year old Katie Ledecky setting a world record in the 400 free and earning a gold? Phelps and team winning the gold in the 4x100 free relay? Gold in 10m air rifle? Walsh Jennings and Ross CRUSHING it in pool play for women's beach volleyball?

Yeah was watching it in between wrenching on the Jetta over the weekend.
2 of the swimmers who won gold were from the SCV (last place I lived in Cali)
Anthony Ervin graduated the same year I did and I remember how fast he was when he competed against my school in the swim meets. Seems like he really was the real deal.
Abbey Weitzel I think is the youngest US gold winner so far, also in swimming, that went to the same highschool as Ervin but there is a 16 year age gap between them.

The US, UK and China will most likely get more medals than normal this year due to Russia not being in a lot of the events and normally when Russia wins gold its one of those countries that are runners up.

It's so interesting to see the different sports federations reactions to Russia's doping scandal. Weightlifting (my sport) did not allow any Russians to compete who had previously had a drug bust, even if it had expired a while ago. Track and Field banned all Russian athletes.
I think it should have been an all or nothing kind of thing. Not having the IOC dictate what happens looks weak. And then it is unfair to the athletes when it should be a punishment to Russia.
I'm not pro-doping and I'm also no anti-doping. I think that WADA needs to step up regulating countries that have a bad track record. Morghan King (USA weightlifting 48kg lifter) has been tested 5 times this year, Kendrick Farris (USA weightlifting 94kg lifter) has been tested 8 times this year. I guarantee these are all surprise visits and not tampered with.
