For the “human interface” I have considered a number of options, but I decided that I would continue to theft ideas from @TeCKis300.

Looking good there. Glad to seed ideas and I've surely borrowed my share from the forums too.

Looks like a productive weekend! i think you’ll enjoy the lbs ease of use quite a bit!

its Totally underrated to be able to turn it on and off wirelessly from the tailgate too.

Ha. Yeah, that was an immediate realization. My first test run of the setup was topping off the spare. I had hose in hand and just about set it down to go to the cab.

I also realized that I can check the battery charge anywhere around camp.

Thanks to both of you for answering questions. Much appreciated and hopefully I’ll be able to buy you guys a beer in the not too distant future.

Alright. Another project wrapped up.

I ordered a Redarc Tow Pro Elite awhile back and finally got around to installing it. At first I thought about taking it into a local shop, but I decided to repurpose the 12v socket in the ashtray compartment. My hand is commonly resting on the shift lever in case I need to downshift so it seemed like a natural location. I also like that it is hidden when I don't need it. Also little chance of accidentally hitting it there.

I have to give props to @degmla and this post for the inspiration:

The installation was easy except for locating the harness under the dash. For anybody that has difficulty finding it, on mine it was plugged into a dummy block directly behind the change drawer below the sideview mirror controls. It is below and behind the orange block in this pic:

Now all I need is a trailer to test it out.

Great thread. Sweet lx!

Following to see what trailer you end up going with, great work documenting all your mods!

I have questions...
current mileage?
original starter?
original radiator?
any plans for a long range tank?

I was hoping you‘d keep running those factory 20’s... looking forward to seeing how they would hold up to heavy wheeling.

- It had 106k when I bought it and just rolled over 130k.

- All the "non-disposables" are original (starter, radiator, wp, suspecnsion, etc)

- A LRA has always been part of the plan and was one of the arguments that I made to the wife on why we needed the rear bumper (for spare relo).

It is something that I may even try to have done this year, but before I do, I need to address my weight. The AHC system is great, but I think adding another ~150-200 lbs is just too much stress. I am planning on adding spring spacers and doing a .5 inch sensor adjustment at the same. We'll see.

The factory 20s definitely weren't doing it for me, but there are a lot of people on here that run stock 20s and wheel all the time. I'd say the factory 20s will hold up better that almost any aftermarket alloy as they are much higher quality.

Thanks. I'm looking forward to another group wheeling trip. Maybe we can cobble together something before summer.

We are perpetually shopping for trailers. The wife doesn't want to buy new though, and I tend to agree. The used market is off the plot right now though. It reminds me of trying to buy a house on the peninsula 😂

There is a place in Vegas that rents Hiker Trailers. I think we are going to go over and rent one for a few days and see how we like it. If so, we may get in the queue. I like that you can buy one as bare as you want and build from there.

Good stuff. If I ran off the beaten path like you do, I would address the starter.

I actually asked the Lexus service manager to give me an estimate for the starter and he asked why. I said that it was a common failure and that I didn't want to be stranded out in the middle of nowhere. He laughed and said that they may have replaced one failed starter on an LX in the six years he has been there.

He is going to give me an estimate anyways, but he wants me to talk to the master tech before I do it. You figure they would be happy to overcharge me for a job like that.

I do wonder how common it really is though. I know it has happened to some folks here, but is that a reasonable sampling? I just am not sure.

We have family friend that has a house on Puget Sound near Olympia and we were lucky to be able to stay there for the kid‘s spring break. I love the Olympic Peninsula and Seattle and we always have a great time up here. This is our first trip to the PNW in the LX though and we have been taking great advantage of it. Say what you will, but it’s hard to beat a good, old-fashioned, family road trip. 200s are great road trip vehicles and I feel like our LX is really dialed in for us right now.

Even with a few hiccups, the trip has been great so far. We left SF on Friday morning and spent the night at a lodge on the Rogue river near Grant’s Pass.

This pic is less about the truck and more about this amazing Taqueria in Williams on I-5 north of Sacramento called La Villa.

I had a similar experience when my LC was serviced at a Lexus dealership in the east bay. Asked the same thing about the starter and they thought I was silly to even consider changing proactively. Their master tech said it is uncommon on the 570. This had me thinking that I am either being overly paranoid about it failing or that when these starters due fail the vehicle is generally over 100,000 miles and likely on its 2nd or 3rd owner who may use an independent shop instead of the dealership for work.

The trip has not been without glitches though. On the drive up I discovered that the climate control was experiencing some technical difficulties, but the fine members of the 200 series mud forum community had it figured out in minutes and the fix was easy once we got to the house on Saturday afternoon. All better now:

The other glitches have been in the form of seasonal road closures or impassable roads.

On Sunday we went out exploring the Olympic National Forest. Apparently it occasionally rains there. 😂 One of the results of this phenomenon is that there are many substantial waterfalls and although we don’t have any special affinity for waterfalls, we decided to carve out an itinerary by trying to visit several of them that are off the beaten path. We had five mapped out. In the end, we only saw one 🤣

Still, the weather was perfect, the trails were nice, and we got to see a ton of great scenery.

Apparently we are two weeks early because all the roads, parks, and such seem to be closed till April 30. We made the best of it and grabbed a sunny spot for lunch outside the gate at the Satsop Center where we had planned to picnic:
