Are wheel spacers recommended for a 6" lift? Sorry to hijack..

Took it out for a swim..nice sandy beach a half mile from my house. 4wd only to get to it. It is useually unoccupied....so far so good. Caster sucks big time on the pavement (no DW however). Little tires look entirely inadequate...

Is that on the indian land? Last time I took the Bronco to my favorite lonely 4x4 beach a freakin indian cop on a quad showed up and said no more 4x4 down to the river on indian land. I was like WTF? He says the rhinos/rangers/rzrs/teryx/etc are tearing things up and vandalising so no more! Guess I'm gonna have to try and hit your beach!!!!!

I say to hell with them corrupted indian cops. I grew up on the C.R.I.T. res and spent most of my life on, or near one. It has always been the best place to goof around without being hassled, fast cars, bikes, ect. It sucks they hassled you for tracks on a beach that will repair itself, but its ok for chief grand cherokee to go dump a pickup bed full of his crap out on the side of the road. Should have offered him a beer. YOu know he couldnt have resisted...Dont get me started...haha

Yeah, get your beast going and id be glad to show you several good spots..

How are the shocks? How is the ride?

Well, here it is on 38's. I had put the modified swaybars back in, and I must report that it is 100% better than without swaybars.

The suspension rides great. 4 golf balls per tire as per codyrx7. 20psi air pressure. It really goes down the road like a stocker, just way bigger. The power loss I can easily live with untill the regear. I will also eventually deflare the rig also, but everything clears just fine. There is some faint diveline vibes out of the rear at around 60 mph indicated..only under deceleration though.

All in all i am smitten as a kitten. It sure gets a lot of attention!

here are some driveway posing pics....the rig is hammered dirty from monsoon storms brewing around here almost every eve...enjoy...

Friggin poser pics? Bring that suck up here so I can be jealous in person, bud.

Today, the family and I drove 1.5 hours down river to Parker to hang with my bro and his wife ,for the day. We spent a few hours in the dirt goofing around with my 80 and his cherry ramcharger. The 80 does awsome, and still has a crapload of power/ gear despite the tire diameter...must be because i'm at or near sea level.. I was able to climb a few of our large dunes without problem. It really shines in the dirt. Rides great, flexes great and traction, even open diff, is very similar to locker traction. Ive been around 4x4's my entire life, and I am very happy with everything so far.

Castor on the highway is scary squirley. You really have to be on top of things above 60. Castor correction will be priority in the following weeks. I dont recommend anyone drive around on 39s and a 6" lift without castor correction at highway speeds. It would be a real quick way into the front of a oncoming semitruck....

Anyway, here are some pics of a great day in the dirt..

ive driven my 80 w/o caster correction for 5k miles till this past winter

Slammin on the brakes and sinking it deep in that sand. Those XLs do great in it don't they. I loved those things here on the OBX, couldn't stick my 80 w/ stock gears and rear locker running those no matter what I tried.

Has anyone actually used the STA superlug 900-16 mentioned at the beginning of this thread? Can anyone tell me:
1) what they think of that tire and what they are using them on, what's the approx vehicle weight.
2) how much each tire weighs.
3) in their experience, are these way too heavy to use on a 1300 lbs 4WD buggy with 135hp? i.e. are they going to be way too stiff, too heavy.
4) how squishy/soft are they at real low pressure (I know this depends on what they're mounted on)
Thanks.

HAHA, thats WOT on the gas, sinkin' it in the sand....That particular dune is a long steep one...took a few rev limiter tries to get over the top. Yes, the tires eat it up. i just backed right out of that particular stuck...no biggie that i was down to the rims in the sand!

i need to get me some of those tires some day soon

STA superlug 900-16 tubeless is 58lbs 36.3"x10.8" with a tread measurement of around 8.3". It is a bias ply with a tread and sidewall at 4ply rating. You could also head to a farmers coop and check out the 900-16 grip spur. I was quoted $156 on the gripspur about a month ago. STA superlug is around $200 but has a good amount of siping which I like. Sorry about thread jacking but somebody asked a question I could answer...
