Ok, Uncle. Turn signal/hazard problems

So in my FSM diagram the ammeter and ignition switch are fed from the unfused side of the fuse panel. The hazard switch is powered from the unfused side since it junctions off the alternator feed. The turn signal switch, turn flasher and stop light switch all receive power from the fused side. Since the original lights on this rig "should" have been the single round units then copying the FSM diagram for wiring should provide hazard lights without the converter being required. Am I following you?

I think you have to replace the word unfused for unswitched.

The turn signal unit was pretty worn out. I could have it stay on if I loosened the clamp by the steering wheel and rotated it one direction or the other but it wouldn't stay blinking if I let go the lever on the other direction.

the early style turn signal lever assembly can be rebuilt by cleaning the gunk out of the rollers and lubricating - both the rotation around the steering column and the rod to the turn signal switch on the steering column under the dash need to be aligned properly to make the turn signals function in either direction - it takes a bit of fiddling

At the point that the fuse block bus bars are connected to the switched and unswitched power sources, the power is fused only by the fusible link in the chassis wire to the battery. It is imperative that these main power wires be routed and insulated to minimize the chances of a short circuit. They can cause fires and damage if they short out. After the fuse block, everything is obviously fused.

Here's a couple more diagrams-scanned from the big diagram that came with my '77 when bought new--

Thanks for the heads up and schematics.... Badly needed!

I have to send out a huge thanks to all of you on this thread.
Especially to Capperdog for having my exact same problem and finding the easy solution. I was stumped why my power was dropping from 12v to nothing whenever I tried to direct wire the GLavender to GY or GBlack to light a single blinker side, and why my hazard flasher seemed to operate all 4 flashers fine.

Cleaned the contacts on the turn fuse and Voila!!
Cheers 🍻

ps , anyone know the size bolts to attach the fuseblock to its threaded stays on a 76?
