I bought a beater honda civic that was over maintained and low miles. So the GX will no longer be used for regular commutes. The amount it saves me in gas and insurance will more than cover the cost. Its a stick shift, too! So I can row my own gears again. I love a good reliable s***box.


Now I can take my time with the GX take it for some short drives, verify if the coolant is clean or getting dirty and drain it again.

Its also not overheating once I got a stant cap on it. It seemed to seal the best of the 3 I went through. I couldn't get it to hit over 188 today and it was 96 degrees out at about 4800 feet. Temp was super stable, too. A few bubbles every 10 seconds or so. Did slow down some near the end, but I have third row hvac so thats whole additional heater circuit that could have some air bubbles.

'13 LX sedan stick shift. Its body is beat up. But looks to be good, otherwise. Only 100k miles.

If you're seeing bubbles, this calculator may give you an idea of water temp. For your elevation that would be 203°F.

11.5. Its going to need a few things but my family should be able to fully utilize it as it will save miles on the GX initially and then after some work, both cars.

Its not. 100% know why I have stuff in the coolant and its not related to the transmission cooler. Radiator has 25k on it

I think it will be good. I am planning on doing a CSF radiator this winter. So it just needs to be clean enough to not clog heat exchangers.

It survived a spirited run through some anyone while killing time. The coolant system. Is still breathing a bit. Something i have grown used to with this vehicle.

The overflow tube clogged again. Ordered a new one doing another drain and fill of the radiator.

It also was still pressurized a bit and it had been off for 4 hours.

Ordered a new overflow hose. Mine clogged again.

So my coolant issues were two fold. I had a bad cap and then the tube to the overflow was clogging so it only allowed stuff to go out but not back it.

This why I am doing another drain and fill on the radiator and why I ordered a new hose.

the overflow tube you are referring to is the flimsy 1/4" or 3/8" ID tube? The bad cap is the radiator cap or the overfill reservoir cap?
