Hello all,
I have a 95 with 150k - runs well - good compression and yet I have that lovely chocolate milk frapuccino crud in my radiator and overflow.
I took apart and checked the oil cooler - redid seal and pressure tested. All good.
Still oil in coolant.
Then got the head gasket and all that done.
Still get oil in coolant - getting frustrated.
What the $%@^ ?
Any thoughts.
Suggestions - could the block be cracked ?
Cheers

Was your head checked for cracks?

Did you clean out the cooling system after all those repairs? Oil is a pain in the rear to clean out of a cooling system

Hello All,
Sorry - been on a long work project - no time to check back in until now.
So updates.
To answer:
Baldilocks - No cracks seen in head while it was off - had it resurfaced as well
Half K cruiser - yes did leak down test - all good no leaks.
Rivman 1243 - Flushed and flushed and flushed and flushed again with Simple Green/distilled water- ran it for 10/15 mins and then drained while hot for every flush cycle - refilled with distilled water ran it for a few day then flushed it again and again - heater cores as well.
Refilled system with Red coolant.
As it stands now - still have oil in system - seems less - frustrations galore
Is the block cracked ?
Am I missing something ?
Oil pressure seems ok
Temp reads are good and I have worked in +100 degrees places for weeks on end - working the vehicle so conditions were demanding - no overheating.
Could it be that oil is that difficult to get out of the system and I just need to keep flushing ?
Any thoughts would be grand.
Cheers
RA

Did you pressure test the oil cooler?

I'm a diesel mechanic and I use liquid and powdered dish soap at work. Always takes a minimum of 3 complete soap and rinse cycles. Even then there is oil residue in the surge/deaeration tank. I've never been able to completcom get all the oil from the deaeration tanks. Even when I use a steam cleaner they still don't come completely clean. Surge/overflow tanks like a LandCruiser has I can get clean.

There are products that will collect up the oil and remove from the cooling system, normally takes two hits.

As per @inkpot trans cooler in the radiator bad, check trans oil for creamy pink colour and level higher than normal.

Regards

Dave
