Hello 60 series brothers,

Just wanted everyone's opinions on my buddy and I's rigs.. I am of the mind that one of these galley plugs is fixed, whereas the other is not. Searched and getting different feelings here..

One rig at 260k miles, the other at 200k miles. Can anyone give a definitive answer on which one is factory and which one isnt?

Top one is factory, but not leaking
Bottom one is fixed, notice the JB Weld? Did I win?

I would try and dig out the JB weld, maybe it was done and someone just filled the hole up.

as someone on here stated years ago, there are 2 types of oil galley plugs, ones that have failed and ones that are going to fail.

this is what happens when it fails:

I'm trying to find the thread from years ago when a friend just bought a 60 and was showing it to me and I looked and the oil galley plug was half way out, I was able to grab it with a set of needle nose pliers and pull it completely out. he was lucky and we fixed it in my driveway.

It could have been "fixed" long ago with another original Toyota plug. 20 years ago I fixed a leaker on a friend's 2F with another Toyota plug and as far as I know it never leaked again. It's just tapped in and seals with an interference fit. Btw... it's the oil "gallery" not galley. A galley is a kitchen on a boat.
