Oil for transfer case (1 Viewer)

I put 80w90 gl5 gear oil in my transfer case is that ok?

No, chances are the seal between the xfer and trans is or will go south, the gl5 is bad for yellow metal trans parts....the syncs.

The oil has been in the transfer case for a couple months but hasn't moved. Will my transfer case be ok?

This has been discussed extensively across this forum. Poke around and prepare for a long read, you'll see a lot of differing opinions. I personally use GL4 just to be safe since that's technically what Toyota calls for.

Depends what type of GL5 it is... some modern GL5 is compatible with GL4 applications (learnt this after buying both separately)
