On the 1982 45LWB Middle East Spec I am restoring, it has an oil bath air cleaner that looks like this (not my truck, photo copied from internet):

Right now there is nothing inside the metal canister on my truck, the canister that goes inside the housing is empty. Does anyone know the Toyota part number for the filter element that goes inside the metal canister? I got a part number after speaking to one of the forum vendors but the picture on their website does not look right, too tall and they are out of stock anyway.

Thanks, any help appreciated.

If you have no luck, a whole bunch of oiled stainless steel scrubby pads pack in. I have oiled foam Man-a-fre from about 1985. The foam finally rotted so I bought some 5/8 thick oil foam on Amoron $20. Had to cut, sew and glue to fit the Manny can form but its in there and fits good. Bought some foam oil from Shucks.

I'm running the oil bath on my 77, and it seems to have survived well in south africa for the first 45 years of is life, and it's still going strong, but... if you're running a non-turbo diesel then you might find that a modern high flow dry airfilter will give you a bit more power (and noise tbf).

The one in the first post looks to be designed so air coming has a cyclone effect and sucked in the bottom and then up thru the medium. Just medium inside would not produce the same results.

Oil bath air cleaners use a non detergent oil. Your standard detergent motor oil will not stick to medium.

For the 40 series 1980s I show this the part number for the internal element for the oil bath air cleaners 17801-68010. Amayama shows it available but won't know for sure unless you order. Before ordering would do your own homework to be sure it's the correct part.

Thank you all for the additional info and parts number. Been working on cars for 40 years and never saw an oil bath air cleaner before. The amount of 1960s technology on my 82 45 is amazing--- I guess when they continued selling the 45s overseas as work trucks they froze development after 1965 lol.
