I don't know guys, that 40 looks pretty damn pristine. It's clearly been repainted, but I could see someone realistically getting $15k or $18k for it, so listing for $19.5k isn't too far gone.
Agreed. That 40 looks nice. Not too good to take out and have fun but good enough to be proud of. This one has the early look that I love ( old style steel inner door panels with dangly, rattley handles and bug catchers and who can deny the coolness of the early emblems on the aprons) with a 2F / 4sp conversion. All it needs is power steering and ...DING DING! We have a winner! I'd pay $12 - $15 for it easily. It'll sell.
This guy is a flipper and he is on MUD. When I was searching for a 40 he bought a 40 on MUD for $11,900 and three weeks later he offered it to me for $18,500. I confronted him through text, he denied it and told me good luck. I can post the text if anyone is interested.
I have no problem with someone trying to make a buck, but $6600 in a week is a bit outrageous to me. I'm more about the community and helping other cruiser heads, not seeing how much money can be pulled from the community.

I hate flippers like that. Those vermin were huge in the Land Rover world. I guess it was just a matter of time before they crawled and slithered over here.

Flippers, to some here it is all about community etc.,, but not so with all. To some it is simply a cool vehicle that they like. Capitalism is run on "buy low, sell high". Do you hate the retailer that sells you that $ 0.25 bottle of Coke for $1.59 ? Flippers also take risks as well, they invest in a vehicle that they are hoping to sell for a good mark up. Notice I did not say fair mark up. It is up to you as the buyer to get what you want at a price you can live with. The smart buyer would use this type of information against the seller, without letting the seller know.
Rare is the vehicle that anyone selling cars buys and then turns around without investing more money into it. Judging by what I see in the add that is a $15K truck all day long. At that price the "flipper" makes some money and the buyer gets a fair deal. Bottom line on all of it is that the value of any one vehicle ( or anything for that matter) is what one buyer is willing to pay that day. If you feel the price is too high and the seller is trying to rip you off, walk away.
Oh yeah, the LC community is no longer the only folks interested in these rigs. They are hot across the car world. If I find an old Beatles album at a yard sale for $5 you can be damn sure I am snapping it up and trying to turn a big profit, I am sure the Beatles community wont like me for the act.

He's in durham and on here and came out to logans in his exod mini truck. Was also doing some gunsmithing. I hooked him up with a local kydex contact when he Was making small knives as well and looked good.

I'm glad you replied. I see what you do as the opposite of flipping. You take an LC and re-power it with quality parts and craftsmanship and then sell it for a profit. Along the way you add to the community with advice and helping out when you can. That's how you are supposed to do it.

It is just that everybody has the right to mark up a product to his/her likely. Personally i dont think think a flipper is doing anything wrong. If not, go to a car dealer they give you nothing for your trade in and sell it for the "retail" price. I buy a/c units and sell them for a higher price with an added value which make me a dealer and a flipper if i had not a company.
I said the carpet because brad can relate to the carpet being in a flooring business. "Just me being an a$$". At the end of the day if there is a buyer at that price that is the price. There is people that never will sell their stuff unless someone crazy comes and pay their crazy number. I just dont undestand how people pay what they pay the big companies for a/c but they do and it benefits me because now my product is on higher in price.
