$19500 for a 73 FJ40. Calling the bezel police.

I really don't like when the seller states "The last 20 restored FJ40's sold for @ $70k at an auction in AZ."

I'm glad you replied. I see what you do as the opposite of flipping. You take an LC and re-power it with quality parts and craftsmanship and then sell it for a profit. Along the way you add to the community with advice and helping out when you can. That's how you are supposed to do it.
I agree with you that 40 is worth $15K, problem is that is not what he is asking and certainly not what he paid for it. I also agree that an object is only worth what someone is willing to pay. I was not willing to pay his $6600 mark up on the last rig so I did walk away.
If I saw a Beatles album for $5 at a yard sale my first thought would not be how much money I could sell it for, it would be to pass it over because I don't like the Beatles. Different mindset I guess.
BTW, nothing wrong with what the guy is doing. I just don't like it. If someone is interested in that 40 I want them to know that it can probably be negotiated down more than they think. I would have been happy as hell if someone told me I could potentially save $4500 whether it be a 40 or a Beatle album.
I am not buying carpet
What? OK?
