Wow, for 41K I would think you could get the factory license plate lights working, not install an additional one!

can you legally import a 1983? Or is it just easier to pretend it's a 1960?....

Factual and cordial ... Check

Comments relative the restoration.

  • Picture # 4 on the ad: steering wheel, seats, and doors are wrong
  • Picture # 5: Lockouts, wheels, tires, side vents are incorrect. Turn signals are more appropriate on my 73 ...
  • I'll stop here, but the list goes on as we all know ...

Asking $41K and wanting $31K profit, the truck is all wrong all over and I am to be nice and cordial too? Sorry that just goes too far against my basic principles of fair play. This is some one looking to hose some rube using lies and deceit to do it. Only thing I have in common is I own an FJ40. Represent it for what it really is and then ask $41K and I can live with that, I'd tell you you're nuts but that's your affair.

Thing is, I don't think this is someone trying to deceive anyone per say, I think it's more ignorance than anything else. She told me they've seen mine in the area a few times and that's what made them want one....

I think the real deceit is the person that supposedly told them it's worth $41k....

Maybe I am being too cynical......................but it serves me well :)

This can all be explained away as soon as the owner fesses up suffering from numerical dyslexia. Cordial enough?

Fact one : bezel

Hmmm...Is this a sign of the top of the FJ40 market?

Let's see...Ma and pa, apparently knowing very little about what they are buying, but still planning to make a killing by flipping a hacked together "resto". Sounds like a show on HGTV in 2008.

I wish them luck.

It's rough to be at the end of chain of sales with rising appreciation when it's built on "the greater fool" theory.

Greater fool indeed. And the buyer will go home with a big smile knowing what a great deal he got after chewing the seller down to $30k.

I wrote the owner. After I mentioned it is not an FJ40 if it is a 1960 it would be an FJ25, I mentioned all the other stuff too.

He came back and told me he knows it is an FJ25 and is aware of all the wrong parts. He said he had it for sale at $34 and had it appraised and was told to raise the price to $41

He really thinks he did not misrepresent it in the add.

That appraiser is on drugs.

Somebody should flag the Craigslist ad. It is clearly a scam by way of misrepresentation. The guy is selling chicken salad but the truck is chicken...well you know. I can't find a single thing on this truck in common with an FJ25.

I see it all the time with sellers trying to pass off regular mustang GT's as Cobras or Jeep Wranglers as Rubicons. Buy some decals and the value instantly goes up 25 percent. Poor ignorant fools get duped.

Price might be off base but its here in person in Greensboro.

There is another running around here for 35k that I believe is actually worth it. Leagues above this example

Having been down south myself a few times and worked on trucks down there and worked on them after they show up, up here I can tell you they piece a bunch of them together to make one from the junk yards and sell them. It is a sight to see in person. I would not wish one from the south on anyone unless it had been completely gone thru by a real professional.
