Keep posting 4Runners and Land Cruisers. I've got a buddy interested in one. I sent him links to the two 100 series.

1997 Lexus lx450 landcrusier

I went to look at this low-mile, locked '97 LX450 yesterday in Mooresville. It looks really clean until you really start to scrutinize it. Interior is nice. Paint is nice BUT it has been resprayed at some point and it is a Northern truck (N. Virginia). The front and rear passenger side inner fenders are rotten and the rot has crept up under the body cladding. Under side has rusty hardware but not terrible. Drives nice. Lil' driveline clunk. 1st-2nd shift is a little hard but that may be normal. I'm not an 80 guy so I don't know. It had a CEL displayed. P0401 and P0116 are the codes. The owner called me a couple of hours later to tell me he cleared the codes and says he believes they will not come back because they were old codes and the CEL had been on for two years. This flawed logic could hurt the next buyer at inspection time. The codes didn't worry me all that much but the rust did. What a shame. It really is a nice truck otherwise. Anyway, I passed on this one. At $11,500, buyer beware.

Thanks Dave! I wouldn't offer more than $6500 for that truck. The P0401 is the common EGR flow insufficient. The problem is that it's a 1997 and the EGR is required to pass NC emissions. Replacing all the components for EGR will be north of $400. P0116 - coolant temp sensor. It could be a bad sensor or just a wiring issue. The bigger concern would be the deep bubbly rust in the body. It would be very interesting to see how much rust has penetrated the underside.

Decent looking 80 at Kelley's cars in Belmont

The p0116 code could also be that they have the tstat removed, which could be the easy way to keep exhaust gases from building up in the coolant passages of the engine......the dreaded HG word...

Anyone interseted in a set of 97 FZJ80 stock aluminum alloy wheels with 4 center caps? There are painted black, fairly good condition. They come with 35" Kuhmo Road Ventures, good enough for rollers or a few thousand miles. $400 bucks, located in Charlotte. Text/call me 919-259-5573 for faster response.

Is that the one that was at GSMTR last year? Drooooool.

It was at GSMTR last year as well. He must have been on Tour last year.
