I was thinking about swapping out my tired F for this 2F with a refresh prior to install. Sold last night. I will still keep on looking.

Good to know. Was going to need some additional investigating anyway to find out why a 2F was in a 1974 (i.e. transplant or not a 2F).

Wow.....and I thought mine was nice at 200k miles. I have a few potential buyers around the country on mine when I am ready to sell but may have to steer them towards this......I bet he could get over $20k on Bring a Trailer.
You're supposed to say, "rust on leaf springs, fuel and engine oil not original, needs wiper blades $8950."

Oh yeah, mention along the way that you have looked at a few other 40s that are very similar and there are a few others you still want to see as well. Lets them know you have options.

Both of those photos look like warehouse district over on E. Market in Greensboro. Large number of vehicle exporters over there. Just sayin....and I was DMV LEO over that way in a different life.

I would recommend a 99 or newer LC with rear AC unit. Or a 1998 or newer LX470 with rear AC. This is the best upgrade in a 100. I owned a 99 without rear AC and it was tough in NC summers to cool down the truck. Took forever and could not get cool air back to the rear passengers. 2000 and newer have the driver nannies which no one can out drive. VSC (vehicle skid control) saved me many of times. The other great thing about a 2000 and newer is ATRAC and 4 pinion front diff.

If looking at lx470s, start with the 03 or 04. more hp, as well as the 5spd transmission. Also look into the gx470s too.

If looking at Lexus vehicles, register on lexus' website, and search the vin, and it will show any work done at their dealer network. Will give you an idea on how well they were maintained.

5 speed 100s are quite a bit more money. An 03 or 04 GX is a great deal.

I'm selling the wheels/tires off my 62. They are in great shape but I decided to go to a 16 inch wheel. I have 5 wheels and the 4 tires have less than 2000 miles on them. The spare is on an older mud tire so obviously doesn't match. Asking $500 all in.

Thanks @BrewTuna @uzj100 and @stevezero - - Son's budget was $5K - we are going to help a bit for a graduation present, plus he has promised to push graduation money our way to get up to the ~$6-$8K range. Love all of your suggestions, but at this point we are just looking for the cleanest 4WD Toyota we can find for under $8K.
