Free to a good home:D

I have a 292k 3Fz-Fe out of my 1994 FZJ-80. Here are some pictures of the engine (please note I AM KEEPING THE VALVE COVER & Dipstick) What you see is what you get minus the valve cover and dipstick which I am keeping. The engine has issues! it is not running and was not running when I bought the Cruiser. The head broke off one of the bolts holding the cam cap on the exhaust side. The head jammed under an exhaust lobe. This stopped the exhaust cam from rotating and the weakest link(s) was the timing gear and tensioners. They are gone, shattered, obliterated, in pieces parts. Get the idea? This engine will need to be torn down and rebuilt before it can be reused. Here is the link to my build thread to get an idea what happened.

FZJ80 (re) Build begins (Oh, what have I done!)

The engine is on a stand (which I am also keeping) and is in my shop which is right off interstate 40 in Greensboro. We have a lift and will help load the engine. If no one rescues it I will be taking it to the scrap recycler in the next week or two.

From your description all the damage is top end. What is your appraisal of the bottom end?

Thanks!

Hard to tell for sure but I am sure that some of the tensioners parts are down in the pan. The crank and pistons all move freely and there was a leaking valve cover gasket so the engine in bathed in oil. Although it did keep it from rusting. The previous owner said the compression was good in all 6 cylinders but who know for sure. My plan was to rebuild the engine but I was able to find a 72k motor and trans in Durham so I bought that instead and am just going to do a swap.

Thanks. Good find on the durham motor!

I've been hee-haw'n back and forth with regards to a rebuild or an LS. Still thinking LS will be the final plan.

Hey y'all I've got the motor out of my 1993 fzj80 with 145kish. It ran great but smoked alittle when pulled. I'm in the process of a 5.3 swap on it. Need it gone. Cash or trade for 2.5" or bigger lift parts, body armor, or 35s. May have the tranny for sale later
