20/20 perspective after spending the farm on my build. I knew it was going to be high but it keeps on climbing. Yes, I have paid to much but the grin is absurdly hard to wipe off my face as I drive it around and the 40 and all the work makes me happy. The grin is about permanent now. BTW I was one of the ones who watched yours from afar as it was parked on Eastchester.

Ha. Those guys on eastchester! lol

Not so easy to be spotted anymore but never gets old seeing 5 cruisers in the drive. I think we could fit one more ;)

Having three at my house was a HOOT!

I have a Nice 100 series third row seat, and my old rusty 60 gas tank. Not sure why you would want it.
Taking offers on these before I haul them off.

What about what someone who is not being sponsored by ARB and Super Winch would tell you from an unbiased opinion? And before they were Super Winch they were all about Warn. That's who they tried to shove down my wife's throat.

Just think you need to get unbiased opinions.

I'm listening :)

Share the knowledge, all I got is magazine and internet articles. And "everything in the internet is true, thats why its on the internet". Wanted: good freaking winch.

It's on a car lot with for sale signs so I'm going to assume it's for sale :D. Sounds like it's on consignment more accurately.

It's listed as a 74 but don't go by lights as they've all Ben changed. Agreed on the quickly spray, it looked much better 3 years ago.

I have a Superwinch ep9.0is (synthetic). I've had it for 5 years or so. I've worked it hard several times and it never fails me. The winch I have has been discontinued and was replaced with the Talon 9.5iSR. The new winch is just over $1K. I think I paid $800 for mine back in the day and it was a steal. The high end Superwinches are every bit as good as the Warn IMO. Both companies have begun making entry level Chinese winches for the mall crawler crowd. I believe the winch you are looking at is one of those...the Tiger Shark series of winches. I found one on Amazon with steel cable for $485. The Tiger Shark winches may be fine. Just be aware that you generally get what you pay for. If I were you I would be looking at the Talon series Superwinches. Those are lifetime winches. Made in USA.

Having said all this I must say that IMO the best winch ever made is the Warn 8274. It's the Land Cruiser of winches. Loves abuse, infinitely rebuildable, etc. I rebuilt the one on the Crockpot and it works great. Look at the price of one of those brand new and you will see what I mean by "you get what you pay for." I doubt if an 8274 would fit your application anyway. You'll likely want a planetary winch.

Oh, and for what it's worth, I also have a Warn M8000. Came on the 60 when I bought it. The line and rollers are barely scuffed. Basically no pulls. Guess what? It only works if I smack it with a hammer and even then only pulls about four inches between hammer smacks. I guess water or condensation has gotten to the solenoids. So much for Warn quality on that one.

How's that for an unbiased opinion?

Not just the entry level Warn winches have parts made in China. I have a 12K Power Plant, winch/compressor combo and the controller has made in China stickers.

I have a Viper Elite 12K that has been used and abused and keeps on kicking. The down side is that when it does break down the odds of getting replacement parts are slim to none. Warn and Superwinch have good parts support and I never heard of a Warn or SW that could not be rebuilt.

Odds are when I buy another winch I'll look for a used older Warn

Based on the grill in that 1st photo, I'd bet you really have had to work it hard. :hillbilly::flipoff2::hillbilly:

Sat for a couple months at $15K so they raised the price to $18K

1988 FJ62 Toyota Land Cruiser

This gem in the ad:

I'm currently looking for a replacement 2000-2009 Land Cruiser so I'm hoping to find a flexible buyer that can hold tight until I find a low mileage well kept FJ100. I've had this vehicle posted for the last few months and had such a flood of requests that I haven't responded to everyone... my apologies.

I'm not going to reply to everyone who's interested. Oh and if you do want to buy, you need to wait until I find another vehicle that I'm buying.

As a person that has the exact same certifications that your friends have I feel it is my job with that piece of paper to instruct people how to use their equipment. I have 3 different winches on 3 different pieces of equipment. Engo, Warn, TS. They all have not let me down. I make sure it works prior to me needing it which was taught in the 101 class. You do a PMCS on your equipment before leaving the house like checking your oil level. The winch is the same way. One of the things we teach is not to rely on one piece of equipment and to be prepared for something to break like hours did. Then you bring your knowledge to the top and use other ways of extraction. Use a hi lift or something else. Superwinch has its pros and cons like all other winches out there on the market. Good thing about the Internet out there is you can see what others have done to make something better like your Engo winch like I have on my wifes truck. Now if I put it on the wife's truck I trust It to work because if not I will never hear the end of it. You can ask the folks that were at numerous workdays a few years back to see if my Warn winch got put thru some abuse pulling a Bobcat up RML in the ice. My TS ( tractor supply ) one on my trailer gets used about once a month and has never let me down. I am buying a Come Up winch for my 80 here in another month for my trip out West to play in Moab. Then think about the folks that need their winches the most. Military and Hotshots. What do they mostly use ? Warn. Do they have issues with them sometimes? Yes, but a bunch of time it comes down to education and PMCS on that equipment.

Bottom line as a I4WDTA person I feel the correct thing to do is tell you the pros and cons to all out there and help guide you to a decision. Kinda like Jeep and Toyota. They all most wheel Jeeps and I wheeled a Cruiser. Got to have open mind to be a good instructor. Not just pushing one brand. And that is one reason I do not work there anymore. I have an open mind and will not jam just one thing down your throat.
