WANTED:

Looking for a front bumper to get my rig back on the road again, I have been gone for awhile. I am content with an OEM. I don't have a lot of funds right now-saving for my ARB. Thanks

My old one might still be at Al's. Shoot him a PM. I'm sure a case of Yetti would be a good trade for him. It will get you buy for a little while (not the same color obviously).

I bought this cruiser about 4 years ago thinking I would have time to restore it. That hasn't happened other than a few weeks of cleaning and preserving what is there. My intentions were to restore it to the way it was when it rolled off the assembly line. As you will see by the massive amount of 55 parts I have collected for it over the past 4 years all it would take is to have someone do the body work on it, paint it and then put everything on. I consider that the easy part. Collecting the parts to do this over the past 4 years was the hard part.

What parts I have. (pretty much everything)

Front PTO with all the linkages
Stock OEM A/C I picked up from TLC
A couple sets of gutter chrome
All new weatherstripping for the tailgate
AU style brake light lenses
Rear quarter patch panels
spare early tailgate
Brass tailgate gear
Weatherstripping for all the doors
Metric TLC reproduction front seat upholstery. (The only one in existence)
Various plugs, grommets all oem all new etc...
Couple spare sets of hinges
Spare set of handle cranks
Dome lights
Tail lights
Reverse lights
Rear oem bumper
And a whole bunch of other things that have not been put on.

As far as the condition of the cruiser. It had sat in a garage unused for 20 years. It has some wear. I rebuilt the carb, replaced the plugs, plug wires, dizzy cap, points, radiator hoses, cleaned the radiator and flushed the motor, new oem water pump, new thermostat. Carb and smog pump were rebuilt by me. It has all the smog equipment on it. It has new oem vac lines. The t-case was replaced due to a crack with another 75 t-case that I rebuilt with quality parts. The gas tank was boiled lined and then coated with POR 15 on the outside. The front fenders were replaced. They are as mint as your going to find. No holes or rust. One has a slight ding in it. Front turn signals are 3 years old. All the glass is in good condition with no cracks. Weatherstripping around them is original with the chrome strips. It has all the original floor mats. Everything works on this cruiser. Lights, gauges, rear window was rebuilt and works. The engine starts and runs. It needs some tlc as it had been sitting for 20 years. The oil pan gasket was replaced. The clutch master and slave are new oem. The brake master is new oem. All the brake cylinders have been replaced along with pads and the rotors have been turned. It will stop just like it did when it was new. It has the OEM radio. It has a dash cover installed. The dash looks almost brand new. All the door panels are off and have been stored. The rear heater works

The cruiser has somewhere around 70k original miles. I've driven it maybe 30 miles in the past 4 years. Mostly around the neighborhood to keep the engine fresh. The tires have maybe 30 miles on the . They still have the nubs.

That being said it isn't without it's faults.

The exhaust from the tranny back needs to be replaced. It has rust in most of the usual places. Just not as much as most for it's age. Most all the rust has been treated and killed. The engine needs to be gone through. It runs needs a good going through.

My build is here if you would like to see what I started out with and what I have done with it.

As far as what I'll trade for it I have no idea. Throw some things out there. You never know what may stick. If I had to put a price on just the cruiser it wouldn't be more than 2k it's all the parts that come with it (PTO/, A/C, Weatherstripping, etc...) that make it valuable. If I had to sell it I'd think 4k would be a really fair price.

WTB: Disk front axle for a 40.

Just picked up a '72 fj55 last week so I am starting a new project and was looking around for some parts let me know if you can help out:

-Front doors or door hinges (mostly on the passenger side)
-Rear Bumper
-Also, eventually looking for a 2f engine to drop in it if anyone knows where I can find one

These are the parts that i need but really if there is anything that you are willing to part with let me know i could always use them

haha good score. Im glad someone got it cause it was killin me so close to home.
Post up some pics, I only got the 4 the PO posted with his add. Looks nice!!!

there is a good writeup on door hinge repair in the Iron Pig Preservation Society using hardware store fasteners and bushings

Look at Custyota's thread about his 40 needing a motor. Lots of folks chimed in with one available in the state. Come to Marshall's swap meet and grab a 3fe and auto for that piggy. Cirbo had a 2f as well, and a few others chimed in.

I tried to buy that 55 also. He had it listed on NC 4x4 at $700 OBO.

So I started at $500, figured we would meet at 6, or even 650 if he wasnt planning on coming down much, which was fine, but he PM'd me back saying he wanted $750 for it? :meh: I didnt quite understand what he was trying to do, I mean, it was a 4wd forum not Ebay? So... I bought an 85 pickup, glad I did too, thing was a freakin steal!!

Oh, and there was a nice sounding 2F with a weber and a header on Greenville, SC Craigslist a week or two ago.

Thanks for all the help guys. Yeah I ended up paying 700 and he threw in a right front fender too (the original one was almost unfixable). Not as rusty as I thought and the body is in pretty good shape. Ill post pics as soon as I get it home safe.

A couple of pictures taken by the PO. As i said before he is including a right fender so just ignore the one in the pic. Overall the cruiser is in great shape for the price paid (no holes in the body or the frame from what I could see) and its a complete cruiser, everything is there, minus the engine that has the hole in the engine block. Cant wait to start working on it.
