RK
Your the first person that popped into my head.

Im sending you a PM.

R.k.
The sooner I could pick these up the better.

For any one looking.
Are all cruiser axles the same? Will it matter the year of the axle? Also, are stock gears 4.10?
Thats what i currently have.

I believe besides disc/non-disc brakes all the us spec fj40 axles are the same.

I also think that the disc brake axles had 3.73's... someone correct me if I'm wrong.

I'd shoot for a '78 + with fine spline pinion. I think we have evidence Del might find the added strength beneficial in his setup. I wouldn't do squat (even street driving) without adding that traction bar though!

edit:
Ooops, it would have to be a '78 for fine spline and match r/p of 4.11

Ramon,
Got your PM.
I just looked at the previoius owners spec sheet and this is what is on truck.

"Axles – Front, Toyota with Longfield Birfields, and Powertrax No-Slip center and
Warn deluxe selector hubs. Rear, Toyota . All axles 4.10: 1."

So I agree with you Ramon. Based on my lack of experience and the horsepower of my engine I want to upgrade where I can so hopefully I am not repairing again.

Let me start a new thread to keep this thread on subject and I can gather any info or suggestions on a thread pertaining to my 40.

Thanks guys

Going to be consolidating (selling) the parts collection here soon so if you need something let me know, I have things from an original Dunlop Sno-cruiser to an FJ45LV rear brake light, to your more common brake boosters and 40 parts, even have some rare 55 parts as well. Also have some trail soft full doors, 60 series split transfer case, also have some diesel parts if you need those.

parts

Greg if you are getting rid or selling parts please let me know. Im always looking for parts for my 78 Fj40.

I'm looking for a set of early front doors for a 40 if anyone knows where a set is hiding....

I also need 8 nuts and cone washers for a set of large pattern knuckles if anyone has some laying around. Need these to complete my knuckle/high steer swap.

Good luck on the doors Jason, I've been looking a deal on a set for a while to make some 1/2 doors. If you can't find the cone washers and nuts, they are still avail from Toyota - but not cheap.

RK had a set of older doors awhile back, but sold them before I had a chance to get up there. I'll prolly just do a lil cutting on my doors (newer style doors hit the A pillar of the cage). On the knuckle hardware, I believe Toyota wanted $3-5 a piece:bang:

Wanted:

1974 or newer rear axle out of a 40. Complete if possible.

Jim, I have my 76 axle, only thing missing are some brake lines. New drums, shoes and cylinders.

It has a 3:73 diff on it though, but I have a matching front diff;)

I had debated on going with 3.73's for cruiser number two, as I have 4.10 axles already. maybe a three way trade is in order...

I'll bring the axle and the second 3:73 diff to Durham on Monday, and we'll go from there.;)
