The odometer in my 80 is stuck.
I have found a used one in my area with almost identical kilometres on the clock but it's an auto and mine is manual.

Has anyone ever attempted to swap the Speedo and odometer across from an auto cluster?

All the other gauges are good I'd love to just swap the bits I need.

A few people have repaired their odometers, or at least the trip meter; a search in this forum for previous threads might help. IIRC, one type of failure is when a small piece of foam gets stuck in the plastic gears.

I need to replace my speedometer head, the trip meter would not reset, and the reset light for the timing belt also was not working, taking the speedometer head from the cluster I found both were broke, undoubtedly due to my heavy hands. The trip meter cog axle had broken away from it's mounts, so not really fixable, the timing belt light was an easy fix, so I need a complete speedometer head.

I would say the the OP that gearing on Manuals V Automatics is different, so you may need to change the drive cog in the transfer box?

Regards

Everything will be fine at the transfer case end, no need to fiddle there. The gearing is compensated for at the pickup based on the diameter of the cog in the sensor (IE, how many teeth it has). Whatever's there is presumably correct to the gearing currently so nothing to do.

It sounds to me like you might be making this harder than it needs to be. If the year models of your cluster and the donor cluster are compatible, you can basically just swap them over. The "auto" section in the middle with the lights indicating shifter position is a separate module. You can pull it out and replace it with the blank fill from the manual cluster. They're identical otherwise, as long as the engine type matches and the year models don't have changes between them.
